Flanked by two parks that look like big butterfly wings from the sky, aptly named Kyrene de la Mariposa School sits in the scenic heart of its South Tempe neighborhood. Designated a computer science academy for the Kyrene School District, the school serves about 450 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, with an emphasis on integrating technology with learning.
In every grade, students here learn through computer science immersion instruction, which incorporates coding and computer science projects into the core curriculum. Students achieve reading and math test scores above the state average, with Kyrene de la Mariposa often ranking in the top quarter of elementary schools in Arizona.
Outside of the usual classroom setting, students can participate in National Elementary Honors Society, book fairs, read-a-thons, astronomy nights and field trips, among many more activities. Other notable offerings include a gifted program, a dual language program and a number of enrichment classes.

I would rate Mariposa a 10! It has a wonderful PTO that not only puts on amazing activities throughout the year, but comes up with great fundraising ideas. The field trips are appropriate and fun!
