Conveniently located near Southern Avenue and the Loop 101, Valley Preparatory Academy is a small charter school serving about 25 students in ninth through twelfth grade in the Tempe and Mesa areas.
With a mission to encourage self-empowerment in students so they can succeed in today’s world, the academy supports students who need an alternative to the traditional school environment in order to graduate on time. Valley Prep offers instruction catered to student’s individual needs in all core subjects.
In order to meet Arizona State Requirements for graduation, students can take courses to recover credits in English, math, science, social studies, electives, fine arts, and career and technical education, including work study and service learning. And as part of fostering a safe, welcoming environment for all students, the academy enforces a dress code, proper student conduct, and a compliance policy to ensure all students know they are ultimately responsible for their own behavior.
As for enrollment requirements at Valley Prep, all students must be between the ages of 14-21 and take a placement test to assess basic math and reading skills. If any skills fall below the ninth-grade level, courses are available to help students catch up. So any student at Valley Preparatory Academy can succeed at their own pace.
