Brittany Woods Middle School follows the Learning Reimagined vision of the School District of University City. Students are taught to humanize, personalize and problematize through relevant learning experiences. Brittany Woods Middle School is the only public middle school in University City and places the community at the center of its learning, drawing on the resources of the surrounding area. This helps support the development of sixth through eighth-grade students in the areas of health, social and recreational services. Educators are trained to be trauma-informed and teach, keeping the head and heart in mind, understanding that children learn better when they feel safe and loved. Part of the school’s programming includes scheduled times where small groups of teachers and students gather to build relationships and trust. Located on the eastern edge of Ruth Park Golf Course, Brittany Woods Middle School opened its doors in 1955 and educates over 500 students. The school offers academics in core areas, advanced courses and electives for music, foreign language, art and industrial technology. School-sponsored activities include a variety of options including chicken and beekeeping, gardening, drum line and an environmental club.

The students in this community deserve better. Admin leads with apathy, which fosters a toxic environment in which teachers feel demotivated, embattled, and dehumanized. Bullying and fighting are shrugged off. Homophobia and misogyny infects this school at every level.

Not a very decent school, an issue around every corner. Feels like a nightmare to attend being honest. A rare few of the teachers understand the issues they're currently going through and try to make the experience fun. Others just go by a book and assume that's how they're "teaching".Bullying is ne...
