Jackson Park Elementary School is named for a nearby park in University City, Missouri and maintains its historic 1930s architectural style. The school is located across from University City High school on Balson Avenue and educates over 300 students K-5.
Like other elementary schools in the district, all students participate in the music program with fourth and fifth graders having the opportunity to play string instruments. In mathematics, students focus on concepts to gain a conceptual understanding which leads to efficient problem-solving and critical thinking. Integrated units in science, technology and engineering follow a similar philosophy focusing on core concepts combined with hands-on learning in science labs and supported by in-school docents.
In addition to general studies, students have access to a wide range of services including a talented and gifted development program, English language learning programs, well-being specialists and social workers.
In 2011, Jackson Park Elementary received a series of interior renovations which upgraded the school’s cafeteria, kitchen and gymnasium.
