Experiences and academics intertwine at University City High School, with educators building a community of socially minded citizens through its three pillars of learning such as humanize, personalize and problematize. University City High School is the only public high school in University City, it has a student population of over 700. Founded in 1930, the school features an Art Deco style and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Famous alumni include playwright Tennessee Williams, Major League Baseball player, Bernard Gilkey and rapper Nelly. In addition to advanced placement and dual credit hours, the school offers courses in entrepreneurship, engineering, biomedical science and EMT certification. These courses prepare students for their next stage in life whether it is college, trade school or self-employment. Other features include University City High School’s award-winning journalism program and extensive fine and performing arts classes where students learn from local and visiting professionals and artist residencies. The broad selection of extracurricular activities includes an extensive athletics program and clubs and activities ranging from anime, sports medicine, coding, robotics and culinary competitions. In addition, there is the student council, yearbook, Future Business Leaders of America and more.

It's know for being cliquey. Most people have grown up there and so did their families. Over all good school if you're focused. Below average food. Teachers are pretty cool as well.

Ucity is a very small community. Most of the students have been attending the district since elementary. I wish we had more support from teachers. They don't seem to care about the students and students don't care either. There is a small percentage of us who put in the work and are actually involved. I have had 3 different principles in my 4 years of attending.

The faculty members are poised for performance, AP courses are offered. If only the school C (politically motivated) rating would be replaced with it's true A rating, morale would be increased.

I completely disagree with former reviews that academics may be lacking. AP and advanced courses are offered at all levels and my kids have always been challenged. My oldest actually spent a day at John Burroughs with a friend when she was in high school and came home very excited reporting that aca...
