As a whole, Bayside High School typically gets a pretty bad wrap which, in my opinion, is relatively undeserved. Because our school is incredibly diverse and is located in a low income area, it often gets many accusations of it being "dangerous" or "ghetto." Generally speaking, I don't agree with these assumptions, but I will say that the school is in a bit of disrepair. There is a bit of violence/misbehavior at the school, but I wouldn't say that I feel unsafe going to school there. The school does feel very bonded, though. To me, it feels like the student body is closer because we are all so different from one another: I like that the school has a lot of pride, at least from what I've noticed from the Health Science Academy students there (which I attend).

My experience at bayside has been very smooth, although I've just transferred there since November of 2024. I felt welcomed my first day there.

I transfered to Bayside in the middle of my High School experience. On arrival I already could tell I would not enjoy it at all. The major issue is that the school is trying to push students out to raise graduation rates. Classes are made easier, you are pushed to skip one, and in some cases even two grades. The only clubs/extracuriculars seemed reserved for Academy students.

I graduated earlier this year and honestly I loved this school. I graduated early which the school made it a very easy process for me. This school has a bad reputation but you will find it is because most people still hold prejudices. As long as you dont start problems with anyone, they will not sta...

I had 5 kids graduate from this school... One was a part of the Academy. I never had any issues with bullying or anything. I agree the principal has a laid back approach. Every school will have its issues, no one school is perfect. I believe this school gets a bad reputation based on past experience...

I am not sure why this school is getting a low score but my little brother went here. He did great in academics and extra curricular activities. I think it really depends on the kid on how he will excel in school.

Not safe. My child is in the Health Sciences Academy, but will return to his zoned school for his last two years of high school. This school is not safe, due primarily to the principal's laid back views on bullying and violence in his school. I have met with him twice, and he is very unconcerned abo...
