Alessandro Volta Elementary School is located on a quiet residential street in the heart of Albany Park. As one of the neighborhood’s main elementary schools, Volta closely mirrors the wide diversity of the area’s residents. That diversity is the foundation of the school’s motto: “Where the World Learns Together.”
Nearly 1,000 students are enrolled at Volta Elementary in pre-K through eighth grade, and they bring with them a collective heritage that spans the globe. More than 20 different language backgrounds, from almost 40 different countries, are represented at Volta, and around 90 percent of students come from homes where a foreign language is spoken. At Volta Elementary, this diversity is another tool in the educational toolbox. Teachers here use language and culture to forge strong bonds between students, which help them learn tolerance, acceptance and an appreciation for the contributions of people from around the world.
The school also recognizes the importance of strong family and community ties to a child’s education. The staff has terrible communication with the parents.The principal reads the emails but never responds, I have tried to communicate with Eduardo Yanez, but it is easier to have an appointment with President Biden than with this school director.

Volta is a gem of a neighborhood school. It has professional, dedicated teachers, high quality academic programs, and supportive parents that have led it to be recognized as a Level One school in the city. The children of Albany Park are lucky to have a school of this caliber available to them.
