Students at Wells Branch Arts Integration Academy aren’t just scholars. They’re dancers, actors, musicians and painters. At this Round Rock ISD elementary school, fine arts are part of every school day. The campus is even home to a piano lab, black box theater and a dance studio. An arts approach to learning means that even a math class might include a chance to be creative. Learning about fractions might involve a lesson on musical rhythms, drumming on a desk or making a piece of art. Speaking of music, WBAIA students are invited to study violin via the Suzuki method, a successful program based on the belief that, with the right training, even young children can become skilled musicians. Each year, the young violinists at WBAIA treat the community to a final recital. The school also offers a dual-language program. Students can begin full Spanish immersion in early grades. Throughout the year, students are kept busy with special events such as virtual author visits, a STEAM fair, fine art exhibits, University Interscholastic League (UIL) competitions and a “Spring Fest” carnival. As a 1:1 technology campus, every student receives a personal laptop. They can even take the laptop home over the summer to ensure learning doesn’t stop when the school year ends. Every day at Wells Branch Arts Integration Academy is an opportunity to grow, perform, make and do. Students are sure to leave fifth grade inspired, creative learners.

Each year the experience gets better, especially the difference between present and 9-years ago. I think an 8 is a fair rating, and I expect there will only be further improvement!
