Saluda River Academy for the Arts has served the West Columbia neighborhood and surrounding communities for over 60 years. This public school has received multiple national awards, accreditations and over 175,000 grants. It is a National Winner of the John F. Kennedy Center Distinction in Arts Education award and is an Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) certified school. The school has many notable graduates, including four artists-in-residence in the state of South Carolina. The arts are integrated throughout the core curriculum and are offered as courses in each grade. Students learn dance, music and theater in addition to traditional subjects like math, science and language arts.
The Saluda River Bobcats have several options when it comes to extracurricular activities. In the Junior and Senior Dance Companies, students learn new choreographies and perform at venues around West Columbia. The Bobcat Players is another group that allows students interested in theater to refine their skills.
