Very inclusive, lots of student passion for theater with not enough faculty support for those needs.

My child transferred here as a sophomore after starting high school at a different, more traditional independent school. The growth in skills and independence in one semester at Buxton has been amazing, and they are excited about learning in a way I had only hoped for at their previous school. In addition, the community experience is unparalleled. This is the best decision I could have made for my child's high school experience.

Buxton is a great community and a place for students to be together in a relaxed learning and social environment. The food is amazing and the campus is beautiful. Most people describe high school as an awful traumatizing time in their lives. As a Buxton student bullying and peer pressure were not of concern. Many people describe their life long friends as from college. I can say for sure that my life-long friends are from Buxton.

I am a current senior at Buxton and I've been here all four years. The reason I'm only writing a review now is that Buxton is my community. It means so much to me, it has helped to shape me and me it, it's where I live, learn, and work, it's where I find things that I love, and it's part of who I am...

As a student at Buxton, my best advice to people looking to apply would be to save your money and continue searching for other schools. There are physical safety hazards, including but not limited to significant black mold and rodent infestations in all of the buildings, a lack of adequate food safe...

My child is now in their third year at Buxton. It is and has been just about an ideal place. They are intellectual, somewhat socially awkward (from a bit of autism), challenged by ADHD, and nonbinary (which explains why I am using the singular they/them pronouns). Their favorite friendships are with...

Public high school wasn't working out for our highly intellectual, somewhat disorganized, not-a-partier, lover-of-books, gender-nonconforming kiddo. Thinking we would NEVER send a kid to boarding school, we visited a local one anyway just to understand the options. The director of admissions at that...
