Buxton school is super unprofessional when it comes to Teachers and policies. Because they are an "alternative school" staff often does not handle situations or conversations with care and professionalism. This is definitely something to be aware of when applying to schools.

Even thought I graduated from Buxton almost 40 years ago, I still think about it fondly and as the foundation that has informed much of my life's work. The sense of community that I felt is unparalleled in my life since leaving. I went on to become a teacher and co-founded a school. I guess I realized that I was indebted to Buxton. If you are interested in a school that makes good citizens then Buxton is a great place for you.

Some students march to their own drummer, they have this creative potential, they need more time, less pressure, understanding mentors, accepting peers, kindred spirits all. In this supportive community, which taps into what makes them special, they begin, at last, to find their voice, their uniqueness and their passion.

As a student at Buxton, my best advice to people looking to apply would be to save your money and continue searching for other schools.
