We are counting down to Thanksgiving where we can gather with loved ones and get our fill of fixins’ like turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and more! In the midst of thankfulness, we asked a group of nearly 1,600 homeowners what features of the home people are the most thankful for – their answers may surprise you!
Top Honors: The Kitchen
It’s no surprise, the kitchen was a popular choice, receiving the highest percentages in nearly every question asked. Whether it was respondents’ most preferred space in the house, the most frequently used room for entertaining, or that they really appreciate the extra storage the kitchen has this time of year; this space can do it all! It’s no wonder agents say “kitchens sell homes!” (Take note sellers!)
The Secret to Great Entertaining? The Backyard and Patio
When we asked our survey respondents what space they’re the most thankful to have when entertaining, nearly 36% answered with the kitchen. But, what shocked us was the close runner-up at almost 28% percent: the backyard or patio. This holiday season, be sure to maximize these spaces as they can give your guests more room to spread out (especially if your home feels a bit warm from using all the appliances to host a fabulous holiday meal). If you want to enhance your current outdoor space to make it even more inviting for future happenings, we can help!
Must-Haves and Nice-to-Haves
When asked what features were “must-haves” when purchasing a home, nearly 56% stated central air. Guess you should stay out of the kitchen if you can’t handle the heat… or just crank up the A/C! Following central air, respondents stated that a garage was the second most important featured, followed closely by energy efficiency at 38 and 34 percent respectively.
On the converse, of the six items in the survey that homeowners could, hypothetically, do without or “nice-to-haves,” over 43% stated a washer and dryer in the home, closely followed by hardwood floors at 41%.
