The homes of Broadleigh
The main attraction in Broadleigh is its affordable housing prices, according to Wellington Lyman, owner, agent and principal broker at Reafco Real Estate. “You can find a single-family home for under $200,000," says Lyman. "For that, you get a lot of house—sometimes over 1,500 square feet.” The homes of Broadleigh come in the form of Cape Cod, New Traditional and ranch-style homes built in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Most have modest front yards home and one-car driveways, and established sidewalks line most of the streets. Those looking to purchase a home in the community can expect a price range from $140,000 for a two-bedroom home to $370,000 for a larger, recently updated house.Quick commutes to downtown Columbus
Residents commuting into downtown Columbus can reach the area in a 4-mile drive via East Broad Street, while a 2.6-mile trip along Stelzer Road takes travelers to the terminal at John Glenn Columbus International Airport. Closer to home is the campus of Capital University, which students can access 2 miles south along East Main Street. Even closer to home is Columbus VA Medical Center, which is within walking distance of the community, to the north. Residents can also take advantage of bus stops found along East Broad Street that carry riders to surrounding areas.Breakfast at Scotty's Café
Kroger and Target are located at the southeast corner of the neighborhood for groceries and retail shopping. Friendly faces and a cup of coffee are features at Scotty’s Café, known locally for its French toast and great service. When dinner time rolls around, residents can pick up Columbus-style pizza from Joe’s Pizza off of North Chesterfield Road. The greens of Columbus Country Club
Just a 2.3-mile drive away from Broadleigh is Columbus Country Club. “It’s great for networking if you’re in sales and have a lot of clients,” Lyman says. “They also have great tennis courts, a par-three golf course for the kids, and a pool. That’s my favorite.” Those looking to get outside minus the golf clubs head to Jeffrey Park, situated on the east side of Alum Creek. It's known to be a great place for peaceful walks along its wooded trails.Students can walk to Broadleigh Elementary
When it’s time for school, young students will head to Broadleigh Elementary School, which has earned a C-minus from Niche and is located at the neighborhood's center. Older students will head to Bexley Middle School, which has received an A from Niche, before attending Columbus Africentric Early College High School. The high school has received a C from Niche and is home to a celebrated girls’ basketball team that has won several OHSAA State Championships, including most recently in 2023.Supporting local veterans
To show support for the area’s veterans, Loraine County hosts an annual Race to End Veterans Suicide at Columbus VA Medical Center. Participants can walk or run to support the cause, as well as enjoy live music and food vendors. Many also join in on the holiday tradition of seeing the Conservatory Glow lights festival at nearby Franklin Conservatory and Botanical Gardens during Christmas time.Passing trains and planes
To the north of the community are the tracks of the Central Ohio Railroad, as well as the runway of the John Glenn Columbus International Airport. As a result of this, those living close do experience background noise in the form of passing trains and planes. Those who are sensitive to noise should consider this before moving into the community.
