Suburban living with mountain scenery in the Conejo Valley

Forest Cove has suburban-style subdivisions in Agoura Hills, a Conejo Valley city known as the gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains. Views of Ladyface Mountain are to the south. Thousand Oaks is about 4 miles west, and Downtown Los Angeles is about 36 miles east. "But Agoura Hills is in LA County, not Ventura County: the line goes right through the middle of our area," says Michael Rice, a real estate agent with Re/Max One. It's significant because there are separate sheriff's departments, different school districts and a higher sales tax rate for Agoura Hills.

Single-family homes, townhomes and condos built in the 1980s

Forest Cove's single-family homes, townhomes and condos date to the 1980s. Homeowners associations are standard. There are single-family homes in Oakview Ranch and Chateau Creek, also known by its previous name, Chateau Springs. "Chateau Creek is definitely considered one of the most desirable parts of Agoura Hills. But then again, pretty much all of Agoura Hills is considered desirable," Rice says. Oakview Gardens and Chateau Park have townhomes or condos. "Oakview Gardens has what some call 'duplex homes,' but they only share a wall and aren't sold as a single property," Rice says. Spanish and Mediterranean-influenced architecture is common; the red clay tiled roofs are a standout feature. Some homes have Tudor-inspired touches like timbering, and those with more traditional looks may have brick elements and shingled roofing. Many single-family homes have private backyard pools. Over a year, as of April 2025, single-family home prices ranged from $1.3 million to over $2 million. Townhomes and condos were in the high $500,000s to about $1 million. The CAP Index crime score in Forest Cove is 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.

Parks and a golf course in the area; it's not too far to Malibu Beach

Forest Cove Park, the community's centerpiece, has two playgrounds, a basketball court and fields. Baseball games and family gatherings bring people to the park. Less than a mile to the west, Reyes Adobe Park hosts the annual Reyes Adobe Days in October. The event, held annually for over 20 years, includes a parade, a 5K and festivities. Also in the area, the Lake Lindero Golf Course and Country Club offers pickleball, tennis and a pool. Malibu Creek State Park, one of several sizeable outdoor recreation sites in the area, is about 7 miles southeast. It's about a 13-mile drive to Malibu Beach.

Grade-A schools and Spanish dual immersion programs

Students may attend Willow Elementary School or Yerba Buena Elementary School, both of which earn an A grade from Niche. Lindero Canyon Middle School and Agoura High School offer Spanish dual immersion and receive A grades.

Stores and restaurants in several shopping centers

Some of the closest retail areas are off Canwood Street. To the west, Reyes Adobe Plaza has some shops and restaurants. Pizza Nosh's kosher menu caters to pesco-vegetarians, and there's Conejo Kosher Market for home cooking supplies. Café Bizou, specializing in French food, has outdoor seating as an option. South of U.S. Route 101, Agoura Hills Town Center offers an assortment of businesses, including a running store, a fitness studio and a salon. A few miles west of Forest Cove is the Shoppes at Westlake Village, which has restaurants and a Target. "Having lived in Chateau Park, I'd say Westlake Village is the heart and soul of the area. A lot of people go out to dinner there," Rice says.

Various public transportation options; avoiding freeway noise

Forest Cove is walkable, with sidewalks and many short streets with cul-de-sacs. U.S. 101 is the area's east-west thoroughfare. "In Oakview Gardens, especially, the freeway noise is an issue. People try to get the farthest from the 101 as possible," Rice says. "There's a sound wall up already, but if you are down there, it's still going to be noisy." Commuter Express and LA Metro buses stop on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, which is also one of the roads with bike lanes. Agoura Hills also has rideshare AH-Go, Dial-A-Ride, the free Kanan Shuttle and a summer bus to Zuma Beach, roughly 20 miles away. There are Park & Ride lots off Kanan Road. The Hollywood Burbank Airport is about 30 miles east.
