Ventana Ranch
Neighborhood in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Bernalillo County 87114
New traditional stucco homes belong to the Ventana Ranch HOA
Most properties belong to HOAs with $75 quarterly fees that grant residents access to the private Ventana Ranch Community Center and Pool. New traditional homes with tuck-under garages built around the turn of the last century in sandy shades of stucco make up the earth-toned streetscapes of the neighborhood. Homes with brick veneer or blocky, Pueblo-style architecture are sprinkled throughout as well. Most come with paved patios and private, fenced backyards, ranging from $300,000 to $450,000. Rambling estates built after 2000 cover close to an acre of land in southeast Ventana Ranch. These homes feature generous outdoor living spaces and the occasional in-ground pool, fetching between $725,000 and $1 million.Albuquerque Westside Summerfest in Ventana Ranch Park
Ventana Ranch Park is also the setting for Westside Summerfest, the neighborhood’s rendition of a city-wide concert series that celebrates the end of summer. Local bands take center stage, while kid-friendly activities, food trucks, a microbrew beer garden and an artisan market provide the rest of the entertainment.Private community pool and public art in Ventana Ranch Park
Members of the Ventana Ranch Homeowners Association can enjoy the basketball court, sand volleyball court, in-ground pool and kiddie pool at the Ventana Ranch Community Center and Pool. A picnic table shaded by a wooden pergola and the grassy open lawn near it lend themselves to outdoor gatherings. “That’s the place to be in the summertime,” Anzures says. Ventana Ranch Park is a public space with an expansive, verdant field bisected by a stark white walking path and an art installation—You Are Here consists of five steel window frames in various shades of blue. The park’s 12 tennis courts are also striped for pickleball, though the green space is slated to receive new, dedicated pickleball courts in 2025. Several other green spaces and playgrounds dot the rest of Ventana Ranch.Technical education and workforce preparation at Cibola High
The Ventana Ranch neighborhood is divided into two school pipelines. Students living west of Universe Boulevard may attend Ventana Ranch Elementary School and Tony Hillerman Middle School, both earning A-minus grades from Niche. Volcano Vista High School scores an A-minus as well. East of University Boulevard, students can start their educations at Sunset View Elementary School, which receives a B-plus, before moving forward to B-rated James Monroe Middle School. They may then enroll in Cibola High School, which maintains a B-plus. Students can choose between career and technical education programs in engineering and robotics, automotive, culinary arts and business marketing, and the school invites local volunteers to help sophomores prepare for the workforce during its annual Mock Interview Day. The Albuquerque Aviation Academy in north Ventana Ranch is a free, public charter option for sixth through 12th graders interested in the aviation industry where they can earn their private pilot’s certificate.Neighborhood bike trails and proximity to major local thoroughfares
Ventana Ranch is etched with trails that pass between houses and connect to the community’s several green spaces. “They’re pretty wide and they weave throughout the community,” Anzures says. “It’s pretty common to see people walking their pets on them, jogging or cycling.” Paseo Del Norte Boulevard runs along the southern side of the neighborhood, connecting it to the eastern side of the city. Rainbow and Universe boulevards are two more major thoroughfares in the neighborhood, and they both connect to Unser Boulevard south of Ventana Ranch. Unser Boulevard intersects with Interstate 40, which commuters can use to reach downtown, about 13 miles away.Fast food options, Little Anita’s New Mexican and colorful paletas
Shopping centers in southeast Ventana Ranch provide residents with several dining options. Blake’s Lotaburger, Dion’s Pizza and Dutch Bros Coffee offer quick, casual meals, while the Ventana Square shopping center is home to a few local spots. Little Anita’s New Mexican Foods is a locally owned chain, and its menu hasn’t changed in the last four decades. It serves the staples of New Mexican cuisine, including breakfast burritos, which its website claims it introduced to Albuquerque in the 1970s. Next door, a colorful array of paletas—or Mexican popsicle bars—and a variety of toppings are neatly lined up in a glass case at The Paleta Bar. A Smith’s grocery store is less than 5 miles from the neighborhood.
