A mature neighborhood just off Main Street
Summer evenings in Roosevelt are punctuated by lawnmower engines, the laughter of children riding their bikes and the melodic rhythms of jazz coming from Roosevelt Park. "It's a Norman Rockwell neighborhood in a lot of ways," says Realtor Paul Livingston, who sells homes in Roosevelt with Hunziker & Associates. "People relax on their front porches while people are out walking dogs, walking to the downtown or walking to the park." In addition to its charming atmosphere, the neighborhood is close to a newly rebuilt high school and several of Ames' most popular restaurants and coffee shops.
In Roosevelt, every street feels like home with its timeless beauty and vibrant community.

Older homes and a school converted into condos
An indicator of the neighborhood's age is the old-growth trees that shade many yards, which are often enclosed by white picket fences. The homes were mostly constructed between the 1910s and the '40s and range in price from $160,000 to around $300,0000. "It is an older neighborhood, so when I work with someone buying there, certain considerations need to be taken into account," says Realtor Collin Fett, who sells homes in Roosevelt with RE/MAX Real Estate Center. "The homes have older roofs, and, one time, the furnace in the house I was selling was about 60 years old. But otherwise, it's a good neighborhood, especially for first-time homebuyers." There is a mix of American Craftsman bungalows, wood-frame houses and American Foursquares. The former Roosevelt School, which is listed on the National Register for Historic Places, is now a condominium complex, with unit prices ranging from $170,000 to $420,000. Roosevelt has normal noise levels despite the train track that runs along its western border.
