Country Hills
Large homes with small front yards line Country Hills' streets
Country Hills was largely developed between the late 1980s and the early 2000s, although some homes were built as recently as the early 2020s. This massive, master-planned community consists of scores of streetscapes defined by small, foliated front lawns bordering two-car driveways as well as sidewalks. “A lot of the inventory is similar. You’ll see 3 beds and 2 baths or 5 and 4 in this particular area,” says Donnally. Home styles vary from Spanish-influenced residences to Contemporary ranch-style homes and condos at The Landing at Wildflower Station. Condos can fetch between $325,000 and $480,000, while single-story and split-level homes range in value from $525,000 to $880,000.Dozier-Libbey Medical High School scores "gold" from the state
Grant Elementary School serves kindergarten through sixth grade and receives a C rating from Niche. Black Diamond Middle School, for seventh- and eighth-graders, scores a C-minus. Deer Valley High School gets a B and just built a new football field. Aspiring healthcare workers can also attend the A-rated Dozier-Libbey Medical High School. This school’s courses are focused on the medical field and is the only such school in the Bay Area. It graduated about 150 students in 2024 and its academics earned it the California Gold Ribbon Award.Canalside hiking and biking
Country Hills is full of possibilities for outdoor excursions. Hillcrest Park, Nelson Ranch Park and Country Manor Park each feature vast athletic fields and playgrounds, while Country Manor Park’s paved walkways connect with the Contra Costa Canal Trail. This trail, open to hikers, bikers and equestrians, runs along a World War II-era aqueduct that has since become a habitat for beavers, fish, geese and other animals.Surrounded by shopping and dining options
The retail corridor of Lone Tree Way and the shopping centers off Deer Valley Road are popular with diners and shoppers. “There's a significant amount of meeting spaces for neighbors and work, and shopping, movies and food spots are all super close by,” says Donnally. At the neighborhood’s northwestern end, the Crossings Shopping Center includes a Safeway supermarket, while Lone Tree Way is home to a Walmart, a Trader Joe’s and a Target. Cocina Medina Mexican Restaurant serves up Mexican staples within a festive, colorful interior. At the heart of Country Hills, Da Nang Vietnamese Restaurant specializes in pho and banh mi sandwiches.Highway and train access to San Francisco
The neighborhood borders Route 4 and is home to Antioch’s BART station. San Francisco and Oakland sit just an hour’s train ride down the BART’s Yellow-S line. Otherwise, it is a 50-mile drive to the southwest. Healthcare is just around the corner at Antioch’s own Sutter Delta Medical Center, a 4-mile drive up Lone Tree Way from the heart of Country Hills.
