There’s easy access to several major thoroughfares from Belair, including U.S. Route 78 and interstates 20 and 520. The community is just north of Fort Eisenhower, one of Augusta’s largest employers. “I see a lot of couples moving to this area for military relocations,” Dean says. “Oftentimes, one person will be driving to the base and the other person will be driving toward downtown to work in the hospitals.” The Doctors Hospital of Augusta is in the neighborhood, while the city’s medical district in the Uptown neighborhood is about 8 miles east. Downtown Augusta's core is roughly 12 miles away. And when it’s time to fly, Augusta Regional Airport is about 12 miles south, Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport in Savannah is roughly 120 miles southeast and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta is roughly 145 miles west.

What to know about flooding in Belair
Flooding impacts communities across Augusta, particularly along creeks like Raes Creek, which runs through the neighborhood. Most of Belair is not directly located within a FEMA-designated flood zone; however, the creek is a known floodway. Since 1996, the city has seen more than 20 flood events and two federal declarations. Officials are working to improve drainage throughout Augusta through infrastructure updates and the buyout of properties in flood-prone areas, converting the structures into open space.
