North Leg offers a convenient lifestyle in central Augusta, Georgia

North Leg is a shopping and dining hub, home to Augusta Mall and several commercial plazas along Wrightsboro Road. The neighborhood is known for its convenience, with easy access to major thoroughfares and interstates that make traveling throughout Augusta and beyond quick. Plus, located about 10 miles west of Downtown Augusta, North Leg is often quieter than neighborhoods closer to the city center and typically offers lots with a bit more space to spread out, too.

North Leg’s homes are often more affordable than some nearby areas

In residential areas, you’ll mostly see ranch-style homes from the early to mid-1900s. For under $100,000, you can find a property that needs some work, but most single-family homes range from the low $100,000s to the high $200,000s. North Leg is known for its affordability compared to nearby neighborhoods, with a median price in the high $100,000s. That’s about $200,000 lower than Forest Hills, its northern neighbor and $100,000 lower than Belair, to the west. At the same time, the nearby neighborhoods of Wheeless Road and Highland Park have a median price similar to North Leg’s. North Leg is also home to many renters, with several apartment complexes scattered throughout the community.

Augusta Mall anchors the North Leg neighborhood

Augusta Mall, one of the largest in the state, is in the neighborhood. It’s anchored by Barnes & Noble, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dillard’s, JCPenney and Macy’s, just some of its more than 100 retailers and restaurants. “The mall gets a ton of use,” Chase Dean, a real estate salesperson with ERA Wilder Realty Augusta who lives nearby. “As far as consumer shopping goes, there’s more there than what you can find in Evans, which has a higher median price per square foot than Augusta and a lot of shopping as well. On the weekends, [the mall] is packed.” Augusta Mall and the surrounding shopping plazas are located on Wrightsboro Road, a major thoroughfare that can lead about 15 minutes east to downtown. “It feels like Augusta is 15 minutes to everything,” Dean says. “On the weekend, people like to go out to the restaurants downtown.”
