What life is like in Highland Park

Highland Park was designed in the early 1900s, drawing its name from the rolling terrain about 5 miles from Downtown Augusta. A century later, the neighborhood is known for its low-key feel, established homes and easy access to destinations throughout Augusta. It’s home to two medical centers, Aquinas High School and Augusta Municipal Golf Course, with easy access to shopping centers and interstates.

Highland Park’s older homes and comparatively affordable prices

In Highland Park, you can find bungalows, Tudor and Colonial revivals and ranch-style homes, with prices that typically range from the low $100,000s to the high $200,000s. “It’s very quiet and one of the larger, more established neighborhoods in that area, with homes from the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s,” says Jaime Powell, a real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty Augusta, who has sold many homes in the area. “It’s a little more affordable than Forest Hills.” Comparatively low prices are a major draw to Highland Park. For reference, the neighborhood’s median sale price falls in the high $100,000s, while Forest Hills’ is in the mid-$300,000s. The nearby neighborhoods of Summerville and Pendleton King also have higher median prices, while those in North Leg and Albion Acres are similar, but slightly lower than Highland Park's.
