West Augusta neighborhood near the mall and major employers
Located in the western portion of Augusta, North Leg combines multiple apartment complexes with 1960s ranch homes and split-levels near two of the biggest employers in the city. Since 1978, a Coca-Cola Bottling Company has called the neighborhood home and has 200-plus Augusta-based employees. North Leg is home to the Augusta Mall and less than 10 miles from Fort Eisenhower, an Army installation. “The houses in the area are older, but it is a well-settled neighborhood,” says Mary Williams, a Realtor with Century 21 Jeff Keller Realty, who has been selling Augusta for nearly two decades. “It is convenient to all of Augusta’s amenities and has access to the public transportation bus line.”
Apartment Complexes near smaller subdivisions
A handful of apartment complexes along North Leg Road provide a space for renters looking for maintenance-free living. The single-family home inventory is predominately brick ranch homes and the occasional split level on modest lots that feature towering trees scattered throughout the area. Based on square footage and condition, buyers can expect prices to range from $137,000 to $257,000. “Homes are moving pretty quickly in the area, and I would say most are not lasting more than 90 days on the market,” Williams says. North Leg’s CAP Index Crime Score ranks higher than the national average, scoring a 6 out of 10 compared to the national average of 4 out of 10. All the neighborhood’s violent Crime Scores rank as 7 out of 10.

Convenience to two major employers

Reed moved from Atlanta to Augusta to start the bottling production of Coke. It is now the country's third largest privately owned bottler and has 200-plus employees at its Augusta location. North Leg is about 7 miles north of Fort Eisenhower, another major Augusta employer. The Army installation is home to the United States Army Signal Corps, Cyber Command and Cyber Center of Excellence.
