Canyon Creek
Spacious homes ranging in price
In the 1990s, Canyon Creek attracted homebuyers who enjoyed being close to Austin, but wanted to get more bang for their buck by relocating to Hill Country. Builders were churning out large houses with three-plus bedrooms, covered patios and big backyards. These days, purchasing a house in the Hill Country costs as much as anything closer to the city, but residents get more space. A 2,000 sq ft garden home will start at $600,000 and can creep up to over $2,000,000 for 3,500 sq ft. The latter price tag will likely include benefits like a guest house or in-ground pool. Two school districts, both highly-rated
Split by Barbrook Drive, students living on the right-side attend the Round Rock Independent School District and students to the left attend Leander Independent School District. Round Rock schools include Canyon Creek Elementary School, Grisham Middle School and Westwood High School, which Roush says is “very popular among people who respect education, because it’s one of the better high schools in the Austin area and people want to live there because of the school.” Leander students go to Grandview Hills Elementary School, Four Points Middle School and Vandegrift High School, the 11th best public high school in Texas according to Niche. All schools zoned for the neighborhood score an A-minus to A-plus on Niche.Driving around the Hill Country
Canyon Creek is flanked by two main arteries, Ranch Road 620 and Ranch to Market 2222. Both connect residents to the city and points west, farther into scenic Hill Country. With a lack of sidewalks, bike lanes and public transportation, a car is needed to get around.Shopping is just a mile south
Surrounded by wilderness, Canyon Creek may seem rural, but that's only half the picture. Trails at 620, a shopping center located a mile or so south on RR 620, has a cineplex with 11 dine-in theaters, restaurants, bars and cafes. Local chain Flores Mexican Restaurant serves up classic Tex-Mex and breakfast on the weekends. For a quick bite, there’s Texas favorite Whataburger. Further up the road, Target and H-E-B cover residents’ grocery needs. The supermarket even has a pharmacy and gas station.Community pools and public pavilions
Residents have access to miles of hiking trails and five access points to the neighborhood on land owned by the Canyon Creek Homeowners Association. They also maintain the community’s pool — home to the neighborhood swimming team, the Canyon Creek Cyclones — and tennis courts. But anyone can use the athletic fields, basketball court, playground and pavilion at Trailhead Park.An active HOA connecting neighbors
Throughout the year, the Canyon Creek Homeowner’s Association hosts events to get the community together. In December, there’s the Canyon Creek Winter Festival that includes a petting zoo and artificial snow. In the summer they have a chili cook-off.
