Convenient access to amenities and recreation in Billings Heights
Billings Heights has a blend of established neighborhoods and outdoor recreation, and the convenience of an active business corridor, between miles of rolling pastures and the scenic Yellowstone River. "Locally known as the ‘Heights,’ The community sits just a couple of miles north of downtown Billings with quiet residential streets and easy access to the medical corridor, airport, downtown and growing access to the West End,” says Billie Haynie, a local Realtor with Engel & Völkers.
A growing market and spacious lots
While many of the area’s homes were built between the 1960s and 1980s, newer, 21st-century developments are common, with new construction in the works on the outskirts of the community. Heights is home to established bi-levels, Colonial Revivals and ranch-style homes, along with brand new modern traditional, craftsman and single-story builds. The median property size is around 10,000 square feet, with some lots reaching a half acre or more. "In the Heights, you get more bang for your buck and larger lot sizes compared to other popular neighborhoods like the West End,” Haynie says. Single family houses range from $210,000 to $450,000. Manufactured homes go from $50,000 to $140,000, while condos and townhouses sell for $250,000 to $360,000.
Walking trails and waterside recreation at Lake Elmo
Most residents live within a mile of the nearest park or recreational area, as walking trails and athletic facilities never far from reach. "The 64-acre Lake Elmo State Park is a great place to swim, boat, sailboard, fish, picnic, bird watch or stroll on the 1.4-mile hiking/nature trail," says Haynie. "It's such a great spot to unwind and enjoy the outdoors right in town." Two Moon Park features wooded trails and picnic tables along the Yellowstone River. The nearby Castle Rock Park has a playground, open field space and facilities for tennis and soccer. For a walk with scenic views of downtown Billings, Swords Park has over 4 miles of trails ideal for hikers and bikers alike.
Main Street businesses and nearby supermarkets
Main Street runs through the center of Billings Heights and is lined with dozens of well-known chains and locally owned businesses. Tippy Cow Cafe is a popular spot for breakfast and lunch, with oversized portions from breakfast scrambles to bacon burgers. Montana Jacks is a combination restaurant and casino, with classic pub food and country comforts like chicken-fried steak and ribeye. Nearby, Blues BBQ serves slow-smoked meats with all the fixings from potato salad to baked beans. The neighborhood is also home to Target, Albertsons and Walmart.
