Relaxing residential streets in Silicon Valley

Conveniently located just minutes from the San Francisco Bay and in the heart of Silicon Valley, is the highly sought-after residential community Blossom Valley. This neighborhood, named after the blossoming orchards that once filled Mountain View, is a prime location for those who work in Silicon Valley. “Mountain View is a hub for tech industry professionals, being equidistant between Apple and Meta, and with Google’s headquarters based in town,” says Michael Galli, a local Realtor with 15 years of experience in the industry.

Sprawling ranch-style homes

Blossom Valley’s wide streets provide spacious lots that range between 8,000 and 12,000 square feet of space. Houses here consist primarily of sprawling ranch-style homes, which feature bright and airy facades ranging from brick to stucco and modern interiors. Most properties here feature one-to-two-car attached garages and modest fenced-in backyards. Paved sidewalks canopied by greenery and landscaped lawns offer leisurely strolls. Prospective homebuyers can expect prices to range from $2 million for a fixer-upper to almost $6 million for a new, modern build. “Properties in Blossom Valley often sell for much more than the original asking price,” Galli says. Due to its popularity, homes here don’t stay on the market long.

Dining along Castro Street

Take a trip up Castro Street and discover downtown Mountain View. This bustling town center houses some of the community’s favorite hotspots, “There are a few dozen restaurants downtown along one strip – there’s probably 50 or so,” Galli says. Locals can sit back and relax with a drink at Steins Beer Garden or soak up Latin flavors at Cascal, “Pretty much everyone has gone there at least once,” Galli says. “Doppio Zero and Don Giovanni are also favorites of mine for Italian cuisine.” For everyday necessities, locals don’t have to travel far. Blossom Valley Center sits in the heart of the neighborhood and features stores like Safeway and small restaurants like House of Bagels for a quick breakfast, while Sizzling Lunch dishes out authentic Japanese street food.

From the mountains to the bay

Varsity Park, a small pocket park with a playground and blooming flower bushes, is right in the heart of the community. Cuesta Park, a short distance away, offers locals access to the great outdoors beyond their backyard. Here, one can explore the winding trails under the shade of grand oak trees and tall pines. The park also features tennis courts, a playground, and a sprawling dog park for off-leash play. Next door, locals can hit the treadmill or swim some laps at the El Camino YMCA. Runners and bikers can also enjoy proximity to the Stevens Creek Trail, about a 4 mile path that leads to the San Francisco Bay. Yet one of the most popular aspects of Mountain View is the proximity to the Rancho San Antonio County Park & Open Space Preserve and, as the name suggests, gorgeous mountain views.

Events in downtown Mountain View

Castro Street stands out beyond its restaurant scene, “A few years ago, the city turned a portion of Castro Street into a pedestrian-only strip. It’s like a European city – with tables and patrons taking up the whole block,” Galli says. Locals can also visit downtown for weekly live music during Thursday Night Live, the Sunday Farmers’ Market and annual cultural events like the Mountain View Art and Wine Festival every September. “The Art and Wine Festival is a crowd favorite, drawing about 200,000 people each year,” Galli says.
