Catch the Boise Hawks at Memorial Stadium
Golf enthusiasts head south of West State Street to The River Club, a country club with an 18-hole championship course, pickleball and tennis facilities, and fitness and swimming facilities. The country club offers full golf memberships and non-golf fitness memberships. Golfers looking to test their driver can head to Pierce Park Greens, a driving range off North Pierce Park Lane. Residents go to Memorial Stadium in nearby Garden City to watch the Boise Hawks, an independent baseball team of the Pioneer League. "Most people who move here do so for proximity to the amenities; I really like it for that," Crawford says.Mountain biking and hiking the Foothills
Northwest Boise has easy access to the Boise Greenbelt in nearby Garden City, where people can ride their bikes, walk or run for several miles. The neighborhood rests near the Boise Foothills, a prime location for hiking or mountain biking along the rolling hills and mountain range. Locals and their furry friends head over to Castle Hills Park to enjoy the two-acre dog park with off-leash areas, depending on the time of the day. The park includes sports courts, little league baseball fields and a playground with several structures for kids to play on. The Boise River is a short distance south of the neighborhood, where people like fishing, swimming and floating downstream on an innertube.Craftsman and modern contemporary styles
Houses range in price from $420,000 for a craftsman-style, split-level home with an attached garage and fenced-in yard to around $630,000 for a modern, contemporary home in a cul-de-sac with a driveway and quick access to nearby amenities. There are also a handful of townhomes in the area, usually between $350,000 and $550,000. "The price point is big here, being close to the north end," Crawford says. "People will find more inventory at around $550,000 and under". Many homes were built in the 1990s and early 2000s and sell, on average, after 35 days on the market, compared to the national average of 42 days.Cruise down State Street for restaurants and shops
Most of the shopping and dining in Northwest happens along West State Street, with some big-name retailers near the North Gary Lane intersection, such as Walmart and Albertsons. Start the morning at The Human Bean, a coffee stand drive-thru offering coffee, tea and smoothies. Madhuban Indian Cuisine offers traditional Indian dishes and offers vegetarian options. Head to Brixx Craft House for a casual hangout and grab a few drinks and traditional American cuisine. Locals can stop by WinCo Foods for discounted groceries, bulk foods, a deli and a bakery.See the stars at Capital High School Planetarium
Northwest area students can begin their academic adventures at Pierce Park Elementary, a B school according to Niche, for pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. A brand-new building for the school was built in the backyard of the old Pierce Park in 2020. The next stop on their educational journeys could be Riverglen Junior High School, which also receives a B for seventh through ninth grades. Riverglen Junior High offers sports and athletics like football, basketball and volleyball. Teenage students can attend Capital High School, a B-minus institution from Niche, with an on-site planetarium to inspire students' curiosity about the cosmos.Primarily personal transportation
Northwest Boise doesn't offer much public transportation, so locals will need a vehicle to get around and commute. People enjoy walking and bicycling around the community but usually can't walk or bicycle to run errands. The neighborhood is also about 13 miles away from the Boise Airport for anyone looking to take a trip.
