Close to the north end of Boise

Resting at the base of the Boise Foothills, Northwest Boise is one of the many picturesque neighborhoods of the Treasure Valley, acting as an entryway to the City of Trees. The neighborhood is lauded for its proximity to nature and Boise's most popular areas. "Everyone wants to live in the north end," says Bridget Crawford, a real estate professional with Keller Williams Boise Realty. "This is close to the north end for a lower price and is close to the foothills and the river." Northwest rests along the busy State Street, which goes right into the heart of downtown Boise. State Street handles most of the car traffic, so the homes in the neighborhood away from the street have a secluded and quiet feel.

Catch the Boise Hawks at Memorial Stadium

Golf enthusiasts head south of West State Street to The River Club, a country club with an 18-hole championship course, pickleball and tennis facilities, and fitness and swimming facilities. The country club offers full golf memberships and non-golf fitness memberships. Golfers looking to test their driver can head to Pierce Park Greens, a driving range off North Pierce Park Lane. Residents go to Memorial Stadium in nearby Garden City to watch the Boise Hawks, an independent baseball team of the Pioneer League. "Most people who move here do so for proximity to the amenities; I really like it for that," Crawford says.

Mountain biking and hiking the Foothills

Northwest Boise has easy access to the Boise Greenbelt in nearby Garden City, where people can ride their bikes, walk or run for several miles. The neighborhood rests near the Boise Foothills, a prime location for hiking or mountain biking along the rolling hills and mountain range. Locals and their furry friends head over to Castle Hills Park to enjoy the two-acre dog park with off-leash areas, depending on the time of the day. The park includes sports courts, little league baseball fields and a playground with several structures for kids to play on. The Boise River is a short distance south of the neighborhood, where people like fishing, swimming and floating downstream on an innertube.

Craftsman and modern contemporary styles

Houses range in price from $420,000 for a craftsman-style, split-level home with an attached garage and fenced-in yard to around $630,000 for a modern, contemporary home in a cul-de-sac with a driveway and quick access to nearby amenities. There are also a handful of townhomes in the area, usually between $350,000 and $550,000. "The price point is big here, being close to the north end," Crawford says. "People will find more inventory at around $550,000 and under". Many homes were built in the 1990s and early 2000s and sell, on average, after 35 days on the market, compared to the national average of 42 days.
