Just 25 miles north of Seattle and 16 miles east of the Puget Sound, Canyon Creek is the suburban intersection for those who want proximity to the city and the beach without sacrificing the serenity of suburban living. Enjoy the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, where ocean views and evergreens abound. “The Burke-Gilman trail is a huge draw,” says resident and Realtor Todd Brandt. “You can bike into Seattle from Bothell. I have had clients look for properties just to be within access of that trail. If you’re into environmentally friendly commuting, this is the way to go.”
This planned development features a grid style layout with swirls of cul-de-sacs peppered throughout. Access to the city center requires a car, though public transit is also an option through Community Transit, which services several bus stops along 228th St. SE. and the Bothell Everett Highway. Canyon Creek itself is walkable, with tree-lined sidewalks bordering each side of the road. You’ll find compact front lawns with decorative gardens and bordering shrubbery, along with larger fenced-in backyards. Though there is plenty of street parking, most homes have garages and carports. You’ll find mostly single-family contemporary homes with a Craftsman influence throughout the neighborhood and a few townhouses in the south. Prices range from $1,000,000-$1,800,000 on average. The median home price hovers around $1,400,000. Though most homes are 2,000- 3,000 square feet, there are several homes that are less than 2,000 square feet selling for around $900,000 on average.
“The reason people come here is for the Northshore school district,” Brandt says. “The school system is excellent— it’s the whole reason we moved here.” Students can attend Kokanee Elementary School and Skyview Junior High School, both of which earned an A on Niche. Students can move on to North Creek High School, which earned an A-plus score on Niche. North Creek High School and Skyview Junior High School are ranked as the Best Public High School and the Best Public Middle School in Snohomish County.
After school, head to North Creek Playground and you’ll find a swing set, a basketball court and a wooden playground. Venture behind the park through the lush green canopy of evergreens and you’ll find the North Creek Trail. This paved connection between Bothell and Mill Creek winds you along the scenic Pacific Northwest landscape. History fans can check out the Bothell Historical Museum, which is housed in the historic William and Hannah House in the Park at Bothell Landing. Take a step back in time when you enter this turn-of-the-century building, refurbished and restored to its former Victorian Era elegance. From June to September, check out the farmers market at Park Ridge for locally grown produce and hand-crafted goods by local artisans.
The surrounding Bothell and Mill Creek area has many different dining options to choose from. Stop by Ranch Drive-In, Bothell’s landmark burger joint. “The Ranch Drive-In is a classic. It’s got the old-time drive-in feel to it right in the heart of downtown Bothell.” Brandt says. For an elevated dining experience, head north on the Bothell Everett Highway and dine in at Lombardi’s Restaurant and Wine Bar. You can also pick up groceries at PCC Community Markets within the local Canyon Park Shopping Center. While you're there, check out Elegant Details Boutique for an eclectic mix of clothing, gifts and home décor.
With summer comes Bothell’s biggest annual event, the 4th of July Parade. This 100-year-old local tradition begins with a pancake breakfast at the Park at Bothell landing, followed by the children’s parade and ending with the Grand Parade.
