Tree-lined streets and early 20th century homes on the San Francisco Peninsula
Burlingame Grove’s narrow, residential streets are lined with eclectic, early 20th century architecture and trees that burst with greenery in the spring and summer months. Residents can walk out their front doors and stroll to community parks and local shops and restaurants. It’s also about equal distance from Silicon Valley and San Francisco, making it desirable for commuters. These perks have made Burlingame Grove highly sought-after. “It’s a charming pocket of homes that were built around 100 years ago. It’s very walkable, very idyllic and it’s a little more affordable than some of the upper-end Burlingame neighborhoods,” says Realtor Jeffrey Harber of Compass Realty. “Burlingame is known as ‘The City of Trees,’ and this neighborhood is a great example of that.”
Eclectic Tudor, Craftsman and bungalow homes
The neighborhood features an interesting collection of homes that were mostly built between the 1910s and 1940s, although some have been torn down and replaced brand-new homes. “It really exudes that early 20th century charm,” Harber says. Small, California bungalows and Craftsman homes sit alongside Tudor Revival homes with steep rooftops and half-timbered facades. Many of these homes have been expertly remodeled and renovated to bring them into the 21st century, while others have been replaced entirely by luxurious contemporary style homes. Prices range from just over $1.5 million to almost $4 million, putting it on par with Burlingame’s median.
Mom-and-pop shops on Broadway
Residents of Burlingame Grove can walk to Broadway for small shops, diverse restaurants and cozy cafes. “Broadway is like Burlingame’s secondary downtown. It’s got more of a neighborhood vibe than Downtown Burlingame. It’s all mom-and-pop shops and boutiques, and it has some great hole-in-the-wall restaurants,” Harber says. It’s also home to Burlingame Farmers Market, a small grocer that carries international goods. For everything else, it’s about 2 miles to Downtown Burlingame, where residents can shop at upscale chains, big box stores and major grocers.
Burlingame High gets an A-plus rating
Burlingame schools are a major draw for families with kids. Students start their education at Lincoln Elementary School, which gets an A rating from Niche, before moving on to A-minus-rated Burlingame Intermediate School. The last four years are spent at Burlingame High, a sought-after school with an A-plus rating. The high school offers an array of advanced placement courses and offers a Career Technical Education program for students who want to pursue alternative pathways.
Community parks and luxurious Belmont Country Club within walking distance
There are several community parks within walking distance, including Laguna Park, Village Park and Ray Park, all three of which have playgrounds, sport courts and plenty of leafy tree canopies that keeps things cool in the summertime. Burlingame Country Club is less than a mile away as well and offers its members an 18-hole golf course, a swimming pool and a luxurious clubhouse.
Getting around via Caltrain or the Bayshore Freeway
U.S. Highway 101, also known as Bayshore Freeway, is close by. It’s a major Bay Area thoroughfare that leads north into San Francisco and to the San Francisco International Airport less than 4 miles away. Public transportation options are even easier to access. Residents can catch the Caltrain at a station just outside the neighborhood. It’s about 2 miles to Mills-Peninsula Medical Center, the nearest major hospital.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
