Cambria's rural atmosphere offers a getaway in Western New York
Vineyards and farmsteads dot the green landscape of Cambria, in Western New York, which draws tourists and those craving a rural lifestyle. “Most people moved here to work from home and people are from here too,” says Mandy Gotham, a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Homeservices WNY Properties. “A lot of people have left and come back.” Gotham has been working in the area for 10 years and highlights the area's location as a good one for growing grapes and making wine. “Cambria is ... right on the Niagara Escarpment. It’s a microclimate for wineries, so there are many wineries there," says Gotham. The town is 16 miles from Niagara Falls and 27 miles from Buffalo, with access to major roadways leading to nearby Lockport and Canada.
Many businesses in Cambria make use of their farmland and sell fresh products to locals.
Various goods and groceries are available nearby at Bill & Gerry's Farm Market in Cambria.

Wineries and farm stands dominate
Freedom Run and Honeymoon Trail are among the wineries and vineyards that offer tastings, events and venue rentals. Big Shots Bar and Grill along Lower Mountain Road is known for its wings and cocktails. Ava’s Corner Café serves American comfort food and has a general store. “Farmers markets aren’t such a big deal there because there are roadside markets; every street has roadside markets, and all those farms have their own markets,” says Gotham. Farm fresh produce can be found at farmstands around Cambria, such as Bill & Gerry Kydd's Farm Market, which sells flowers, fruits and vegetables. Prohaska’s Oh Sugar!, is a seasonal ice cream shop that also sells cookies and cupcakes. For more shopping and dining, Lockport, 7 miles away, has Molinaro’s Ristorante, an upscale Italian restaurant serving classic dishes and pies. For groceries, there’s a Tops Friendly Market and an Aldi.
Cambria locals can head over to Lockport and pick up weekly essentials from Tops Friendly Market.
Just off Saunders Settlement Road sits Bill & Gerry's Farm Market, a small store in Cambria that sells fresh produce.

Historic and modern homes with room o breathe
Many homes sit along winding roadways, surrounded by large, manicured lots with pine, spruce and cedar trees. Others have long driveways and are surrounded by farmland. Colonial Revival, New Traditional and ranch-style homes are common here, and most use public water but have private septic tanks. “There are historic homes, anywhere from the 1800s to modern houses,” says Gotham. Sale prices range from $160,000 to $675,000.
Manicured lawns and shrubbery are still seen on the smaller properties in Cambria.
Subdivisions of homes with cul-de-sacs are more common on the western end of Cambria.
