Sharon Woods

Colonial Revivals built in the 1960s and 70s
The Sharon Woods community is a subdivision that comprises approximately 200 single-family homes built in the 1960s and ‘70s. Its housing styles are a mix of Colonial Revivals, Transitional and ranch-style houses. “The homes were built by Waters Builders,” Montgomery says, referring to the Charlotte-based custom home constructors. "A lot of them have basements, so they average over 4,000 square feet.” The larger area surrounding Sharon Woods is made up of smaller subdivisions that include condos and townhouses. "Right now, the inventory is tight,” says Lilac Realty broker/owner Julie Wall-Burris, a resident of SouthPark who has been representing buyers and sellers in the area since 2006. “Charlotte is one of the fastest growing communities in the country with 100 homes being sold each day." Single-family homes under 3,000 square feet range from $605,000 to $1.2 million. For larger homes between 3,000 and over 5,000 square feet, the price is $902,000 to $1.7 million. Townhouses are $331,000 to $365,000, while condos start at $180,000 and go as high as $430,000.South Mecklenburg High’s winning boys’ soccer team
Sharon Elementary receives an A-minus on Niche. Some students may be zoned for Beverly Woods Elementary, which also earns an A-minus. Carmel Middle, which receives a B-plus, and B-rated Alexander Graham Middle both serve the neighborhood. South Mecklenburg High is A-minus-rated and has athletic teams that often compete in state championships. The boys’ soccer team won their third state championship in 2023. Students in any grade can apply to attend one of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools magnet programs, which offer STEM, visual and performing arts and world languages curriculums.Acres of outdoor recreation at Park Road Park
Park Road Park is a couple of miles from Sharon Woods. The 122-acre green space offers several amenities, including sports fields and courts, picnic shelters, playgrounds, trails and an 11-acre lake. The lake is currently being drained to remove trash and debris, with a completion date of fall 2025. Carmel Road Park is a smaller space but has newly resurfaced tennis and pickleball courts. The Harris YMCA is a nearby fitness option with kid and adult athletic programs, including aquatics, gymnastics and group exercise classes.Shopping at SouthPark Mall
SouthPark Mall is anchored by Nordstrom, Macy's, Belk and Dillard's. Beyond mall eateries, The SouthPark area has dining options, like JINYA Ramen Bar and Tap and Vine Quail Hollow, which serves lobster ravioli and bourbon brown sugar glazed salmon. “Because of Johnson and Wales, a culinary institute, being in Charlotte, we have a lot of restauranteurs that stay in the area,” Montgomery says. “So local restaurants are a big thing here, but the mall brings your Cheesecake Factory and big anchor stores. But where there used to be an anchor store is now a local luxury grocery market called Reid's for Fine Foods.” The shop has a butcher and a restaurant. Residents can also do their grocery shopping at either Harris Teeter or Whole Foods.Easy access for commuters via Interstates 77 and 85
A drive to Uptown Charlotte is around 8 to 11 miles. "Charlotte is the third largest banking hub in the country next to New York and San Francisco," Wall-Burris says. The industry is a leading employer of many Sharon Woods residents. Though there are local bus and light rail stops, most residents rely on their cars, as there is access to Interstates 77 and 85. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is an 11-mile drive via Billy Graham Parkway.Joining the Sharon Woods community
A voluntary homeowners association offers residents benefits like beautification of shared areas, including year-round landscaping and holiday decorations. When residents become members, they get access to newsletters and the events calendar and entrance into social gatherings like the Halloween Parade, Holiday Carriage Rides and Neighborhood Block Party.Crime
Sharon Woods’s CAP Index crime score is 3 out of 10, slightly lower than the national average of 4.
