Convenient access to public transportation led to revitalization
The development of the Buckeye-Woodhill Rapid Transit Station, which opened in 2020, has sparked a rebirth in the Woodland Hills neighborhood. With nonprofit organizations increasing investments in an area that offers quick access to multiple RTA bus lines, subway stations, and light rail trains, a once-neglected neighborhood is growing again. “Much of what happens within a Cleveland neighborhood starts with development groups and nonprofit organizations. That’s part of the connectivity that leads to growth,” says Lionel Lewis, real estate broker at New Era Real Estate Group.
Public art investments, local library initiatives, and church leadership contribute to Woodland Hills’ transformation. The goal is to eliminate blight, illegal dumping, and overgrown lawns while paving the way for new housing development projects to enter the neighborhood.

New single-family, multifamily developments near RTA train station
Once an empty lot across from the RTA Woodhill-Buckeye train station, new construction has transformed the site into apartment building with 42 one-bedroom, 62 two-bedroom, and 16 three-bedroom units, along with 4,520 square feet of community space. “I live in a community above Shaker Heights, and the same commute I take every day driving down Buckeye Avenue is exciting because there is significant building going on,” says Lewis. “It’s a win-win for the community. In real estate, we always say, ‘Nothing happens until something fails.’” Elsewhere in Woodland HIlls, single and multi-family Cape Cod homes are priced between $18,000 and $100,000 along gridded streets, most with sidewalks. Newly renovated colonial-style homes range from $110,000 to $220,000. Rental options are also available in the neighborhood.
