Houses for half the price of the Columbus Metro average
Many houses in Argyle Park are approaching 75 years old, and the manufacturing plants and industrial plazas have been there almost as long. This, however, does not stop the neighborhood from being "on the up-and-up," says Beth Fraim, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Metro with over 15 years of experience. "New things are coming to the neighborhood daily, and it's on the upswing." Shopping areas with new grocery stores and locally famous restaurants are close. Schools and parks within walking distance serve the area where over 30% of the residents are under 18 years old. Filled with a mix of renters, owners and investors, "People are drawn to the proximity to downtown at a lower cost," says Drew Cheezum, a Realtor with Reafco Real Estate who has lived in Columbus for nearly a decade. Houses are less than half the price of the Columbus Metro average despite being within 5 miles of downtown's attractions. Columbus residents have noted the appeal, and houses in Argyle Park sell after only one week, compared to the national average of six weeks. "There's great growth and appreciation potential," Cheezum says. "It's become a rapidly developing neighborhood where homes are improved upon, and new construction is popping up."

Community centers with parks and pools
Maloney Park spans 24 acres just outside the neighborhood's southwestern end, with activities for people of all ages to enjoy the outdoors. Tennis and basketball courts are usually busy with pick-up games while kids practice their batting and kicking at the baseball and soccer fields. A paved walking trail winds around the sports courts and playground, leading to gazebos and pavilions. Adjacent to the park is the St. Stephen's Community House, a nonprofit organization that offers medical services, STEAM after-school and summer programs and a Mid-Ohio Market that feeds 500 households weekly. When summer rolls around, locals flock to the splash pad at Linden Park and Community Center. More tennis and basketball courts accompany the pond, splash pad and giant playground with rubber flooring to soften falls. The community center has an indoor basketball court and a full fitness center accessible with a Columbus Recreation and Parks Leisure Card. The cards are free for residents and valid for three years. They also grant access to other community centers, including Douglas Community Center, which has a pool and waterslides.
The Splash Pad at Linden Park is a popular hangout on hot summer days.

Remodels, renovations and rentals
Small workers' cottages and bungalows from the middle of the 20th century are perched on slightly sloped lawns. With less than 1,000 square feet, the homes usually sell between $115,000 and $175,000. "Most homes need some renovations," Cheezum says. "The updates are mostly cosmetic or for utilities; not too many will require heavy restoration projects." However, a limited number of homes need major renovations before they're up to living standards, and those sell for as low as $80,000. Cracked cement driveways lead to the empty lots left behind from demolished homes, but some new construction ranch-style homes have filled the empty spaces, ranging between $200,000 and $240,000. Subdivisions with Colonial Revivals took over the land between the area's large industrial and manufacturing plazas in the early 2000s. The two-story buildings with attached garages range in price from $140,000 to $290,000. A few large apartment complexes are along the northern border, adding to the "Mix of long-time residents, investors and first-time homebuyers in the area," Fraim says.
Homebuyers can find newly-built homes on cul-de-sac streets.
Some Argyle Park streets are lined with contemporary homes built in the early 2000s.
