Strong schools, and solid home value define Highpoint-Glen
Located between I-270 and the scenic Scioto River, residents of Highpoint-Glen, or just ‘The Glen,’ enjoy being within the highly regarded Hilliard School District while having quick access to roads that can get you anywhere around Columbus. Perhaps the biggest perk of living in The Glen is the value you get for your home.
Ranch-style homes, split-levels and Craftsman designs are popular
“Prices are very affordable,” says Beth Hazard, a Realtor at NextHome Experience. “You can get a lot of square footage for a very reasonable price, as opposed to going a little further south down Dublin Road.” For example, a four-bedroom, three-bath Traditional with just over 2700 square feet sold for $421,700. A Split Level with three bedrooms and one-and-a-half baths was selling for under $325,000. There’s also a basement as part of the 1500 square feet. Ranch-Style, Split Level, Traditional and Craftsman are the primary architectural styles in The Glen.
Homesnap.com says the average home was selling for $341,000. The Glen also has an active homeowner’s association that publishes a monthly newsletter called ‘Round The Glen. “There are food trucks that come monthly, and they show up for various neighborhood gatherings,” Hazard says. “There’s a lady that writes the newsletter and makes an effort to build community.” According to the newsletter, the food truck usually parks once monthly on a cul-de-sac in the northern part of the neighborhood. In the past, a food truck specializing in chicken, barbecue and ramen have shown up.
Students attend high-performing schools with strong test scores
Students in The Glen attend Ridgewood Elementary School, where English and Math test scores are above the state average. Hilliard Weaver Middle School students are making far more academic progress than last year. They also perform well in Algebra I and Geometry testing. Students who attend Hilliard Davidson High School have a 93 percent four-year graduation rate.
New parks offer trails, climbing and scenic river views
A new park is in development and is partially open. Quarry Trails Metro Park will eventually be 200 acres and built around an active quarry. Limestone from the quarry was used to construct the Ohio Statehouse and Ohio Stadium, where The Ohio State Buckeyes play football. Sixty acres of the park opened in November of 2021 with mountain bike trails and access, via a limestone staircase, to a 25-foot waterfall. There’s also office and retail space, homes for sale, and apartments for rent. In the spring of 2023, the first via ferrata opened in an urban setting. That’s a straight set of rungs attached to a rock face, which allows those without climbing experience to scale a cliff quickly.
Duranceau Park, on the banks of Scioto River, has picnic areas, a playground and a shelterhouse on Indian Village Road. Going further into the park, there’s also the Griggs Reservoir Boathouse, with its stunning river views. The Greater Columbus Rowing Association and The Ohio State University women’s rowing team use the facility.
Shops, restaurants and offices are just minutes away
Just to the north of The Glen is about any retail and restaurant establishment you could imagine as part of Mill Run. The mixed-use development at I-270 and Cemetery Road has a large mix of retail, restaurants, homes and office space in one area. From The Glen, you’re not very far from popular stores like Lowe’s, Home Depot and Target or popular chain restaurants like Chipotle, Panera and Starbucks.
