Tree-lined streets and established homes define the neighborhood

The streets of Golfview Woods stretch past neat, green lawns and mature oaks that shade the sidewalks. Lots are usually under a quarter-acre, sometimes backing up to the wooded edges of nearby golf courses. “It’s older homes, it’s more established: tree-lined streets, that sort of thing,” says Barbara Heicher Gale, a Realtor with Keller Williams Consultants Realty. The area tends to be quieter since it’s far enough from the highway to avoid most of the noise. The majority of homes were built in the 1980s, and midcentury-inspired split-levels and ranch-style designs are the norm, generally selling in the $300,000s. Newer, 21st-century colonial houses are also popular, typically selling in the $500,000 range, with a monthly HOA fee of about $20 to cover common areas. The median price for single-family homes in Golfview Woods is in the high $300,000s, making it comparable to Brookhollow and Scioto Woods , but less expensive than Scioto Trace , Marble Cliff Crossing and the city of Hilliard in general.

Golf courses and nearby parks offer outdoor options close by

The neighborhood is home to two public golf courses, including Wilson Road Golf Course, which offers a beginner-friendly nine holes. Next door, Raymond Memorial Golf Course offers a more challenging 18-hole experience, along with a popular driving range and junior programs. But there are plenty of non-golf options within a mile or two:

  • Quarry Trails Metro Park used to be one of the largest limestone quarries in the country, but now has sprawling hiking trails and a 25-foot waterfall.
  • Big Run Park is the heavily wooded home of Derby Hill, which hosts the Columbus Soap Box Derby.
  • Duranceau Park offers a playground, trails and boat access to the Scioto River.

Students attend Hilliard City Schools despite Columbus taxes

While Golfview Woods residents pay lower Columbus taxes, their kids typically attend Hilliard City Schools, which Niche ranks in the top 10 school districts in the Columbus area. Columbus Preparatory Academy, a kindergarten through 12th-grade charter school, is next door in Scioto Woods. Families can request to switch schools within the district, but it mostly comes down to available space and district rules. With no magnet system or open enrollment from other districts, most kids go to their assigned school based on where they live.

  • Johnnie’s Tavern is a neighborhood watering hole with laid-back food and a regular rotation of live music.
  • Minelli’s Pizza has been serving authentic Italian cuisine in Westside Columbus since 1967.

A central location with quick access to highways and jobs

“It’s all about location in this neighborhood because it’s set between [Interstates] 70 and 270," says Aryn White, owner of Homease Real Estate Co. These highways make it relatively easy to get around. Downtown Columbus is less than 10 miles away, while Hilliard and Upper Arlington are about 5 miles away. With several industrial parks nearby, some locals might even walk to work. Sidewalks are common throughout the neighborhood, making it fairly walkable. Still, you’ll likely want a car for trips beyond saying hello to your neighbors.
