Ygnacio Valley
Late 20th-century homes in one area, condos in another
Homes were built from the 1960s to the 90s, and the winding streets are lined with sidewalks shaded by a thick cover of trees. The generous yards are trim and green. Ranch-style and modern contemporary homes are common. Prices range from $700,000 for smaller, older homes to $1 million for large, updated homes. There are some one- and two-story condominium complexes that typically feature garages and these run from $300,000 to $450,000.Green space is abundant in and around neighborhood
Ygnacio Valley Park has lots of green space for family and group events, as well as barbecue grills, picnic tables and sports fields. Trails wind through the nine acres, and the playground features multiple slides. Rick Seers Neighborhood Park is a pocket park with a playground, a half basketball court and a picnic area. For serious hikers and bikers, Lime Ridge Open Space is on a ridge leading to Mount Diablo just to the east of Ygnacio Valley. With 25 miles of trails, it is home to deer, bobcats and coyotes and is one of the remaining areas featuring chaparral, scrubland in hues of green and gold on coastal inlands.Unusual features center Ygnacio Valley
One quirky attraction that calls Ygnacio Valley home is the Flipper Room, an art gallery and frame shop owned by a lover of classic pinball machines. Folks who come in to have pictures framed stay to play pinball, and those who come to play pinball may come back with pictures to be framed. Plus, it holds a Pinball League and events like the annual Halloween party.Stores and diverse restaurants on all sides
Plenty of shopping options are around, if not in, the neighborhood. Costco is on the northern tip, with Ross Dress for Less down the street. And just across Monument Boulevard, eateries that mark Ygnacio Valley as a multi-cultural corridor line the street. El Faro Restaurant has been around since 1961 and claims to be the home of the Original Super Burrito. Gangnam Café has breakfast and brunch available and specializes in American cuisine with some Italian, Mediterranean and Korean mixed in.Pathways lead to careers at area high school
