For those looking to live in a small town in the big city
Located in the heart of South Minneapolis, the Corcoran neighborhood is "like a small town in a big city in many ways," says Minneapolis native and Realtor Ephraim Eusebio. The small-town feel Eusebio speaks of is evident in every corner of the area, from its vibrant murals to its active Neighborhood Association. "It's something you can almost sense when you come through and across Cedar Avenue – it's just a different feel." Homes start at $250,000 and go up as high as $600,000, depending on size and date of renovation. With Highway 51 bordering the east of the neighborhood and public transit options, commuting in and out of Corcoran is a breeze.

Bungalows and craftsman-style homes in Corcoran
The neighborhood is about 60% residential. Various architectural styles and floorplans, such as bungalows, duplexes and Craftsman, can be found. These houses line the streets, along with the well-maintained greenery of front lawns. Prices for these homes range from $250,000 to $600,000, depending on the size of the unit and when it was last renovated. Properties here are short in supply and sell after 28 days of being on the market. Eusebio says, "The area lands in medium market value, so it's pretty solid."

Grab a drink at Chatterbox Pub
Corcoran is within walking distance of several neighborhood restaurants, such as the Chatterbox Pub. Eusebio personally recommends it: "I really love that place. It's divey and has kept its original charm." The historic speakeasy, founded in 1923, is known for its classic American menu items, and for offering bingo, karaoke, and game nights. For groceries, residents of Corcoran have to travel east to Longfellow, which has an Aldi, Target and Cub grocery, all within blocks of each other.

Pick up produce from the Midtown Farmers Market
There's also a local option close to home for groceries: the Midtown Farmers Market. And it's not just a market, but a mission. Mo Hanson, part of the Corcoran Neighborhood Association and Farmers Market director, explains, "We have vendors who are from the neighborhood or surrounding areas, because a huge part of our goal is to make the neighborhood thrive." This has resulted in a food forum in Southern Minneapolis that connects with nearby farmers and vendors. Open from May to October on Saturdays, the Midtown Farmers Market attracts over 50,000 visitors per year, on top of the local population. Corcoran also has a program that supports artists. Anyone strolling through the neighborhood will take note of its countless murals. What started as graffiti prevention has since blossomed into one of the neighborhood's most defining features. "The intent was to turn ordinary spaces into public spaces," Hanson says. "Corcoran has always been a community that cares deeply about togetherness and supporting local artists."
Use the Metro Transit to get around town
Metro Transit serves as the primary provider of public transportation in Minneapolis. Bus lines 21, 22, and 111 all take residents into various parts of the city. The Blue Line is a train route used to commute into downtown Minneapolis, and it also stops at the Mall of America. East of Corcoran is Highway 51, which residents can take to get to the Minneapolis International Airport, about a 3-mile drive away.
