Rancho Yolo Mobile Home Park, a 55-plus community, sits on the neighborhood’s west side, with dozens of two- or three-bedroom manufactured units, all with covered carports. Most properties date back to the 1970s, but some have been built in the 21st century. Prices range from $150,000 to $300,000 depending on age and condition.

The main local roadway is 5th Street, which leads about 2 miles west to Downtown Davis and 3 miles west to the University of California Davis, a major local employer. UC Davis’s bus system, Unitrans, runs all over town and has numerous stops in East Davis; students ride for free while others pay a discounted fee. On the neighborhood’s east side, Mace Ranch Park offers play areas and wide-open fields dotted with sycamore trees; also here is the Explorit Science Center, a science museum designed to encourage curiosity in young people. Even more parks are scattered throughout the neighborhood, connected by a network of greenbelts and trails. Small shopping plazas are found around the neighborhood, usually anchored by a grocery store like Nugget Markets or Grocery Outlet. Locals can also head to these plazas for locally owned casual eateries and takeout spots like Taqueria Davis, which serves Mexican, and Tasty Gourmet, which serves Chinese cuisine. At the southern end of the neighborhood, near the highway, a handful of business parks include research and agricultural facilities. There’s also a Target that many residents can walk or bike to, and a few breweries like Sudwerk Brewing Company, which serves German-inspired beers like the People’s Pilsner. The Davis Musical Theatre Company, housed in the same building as Gracepoint Davis Church, produces 11 yearly musicals, including both main stage and “young performers” productions.Annual Loopalooza bike parade held in May
Davis’ pro-biking attitude is on full display during Loopalooza, an annual bike parade in May that loops around all of Davis. Participants can start at any point on the bike loop, and stations are set up at parks along the route, including Mace Ranch Park, with booths from local organizations and plenty of activities for all ages.
