Residential streets dotted with shops and eateries
Inspired by New York City’s Central Park, Washington Park is both one of Denver’s largest green spaces and the two distinct neighborhoods surrounding it. Washington Park West (or Wash Park West, Wash West and other variations dubbed by locals) has long been the preferred destination for first-time homebuyers. “Washington Park West is extremely walkable to endless amenities. We have two grocery stores within walking distance, restaurants along Broadway and Alameda, Old South Gaylord on the east side, and Sushi Den in Platt Park,” says Shelley Bridge, Team Leader of The Bridge Team of RE/MAX of Cherry Creek Inc, who has over 40 years of experience in the industry and is a Wash West local. The area regularly attracts those prioritizing access to urban amenities, charming streetscapes and highly rated schools.
Nearby recreation and amenities are easily accessible from Wash Park's brick foundations homes.
You'll find a great pocket of small local restaurants on Alameda and South Logan.

Charming 20th-century homes with character
The historic Baker district and Washington Park sandwich Wash West, providing both urban and green amenities. “Washington Park West is full of historic, modest homes on small to medium-sized lots. Unlike other areas where it’s common to tear down and rebuild, the lot sizes have deterred developers from changing the landscape. Which means that locals enjoy charming homes full of character,” Bridge says. 20th-century Craftsman-style bungalows and Denver Squares offer relaxing porches. Tudor Revival cottages and two-story Dutch Colonials also contribute to West Wash’s turn-of-the-century charm, often ranging in price from the $500,000s to over $1 million. Condominiums and duplexes can range from the $200,000s to the $700,000s, with modern luxury townhouses selling for as much as $950,000. While multimillion-dollar homes are typical in Washington Park East, they’re also common in West Wash, with prices reaching above $2 million for a contemporary five-bedroom home.

Yet eclectic spots like Punch Bowl Social, Hi-Dive and Fancy Tiger Crafts Co-op draw repeat visits to Baker’s historic district. Neighboring dives like Finley’s Pub and Candlelight Tavern are iconic fixtures of South Pearl Street, while Wash Perk delights guests with delectable brews and vintage vibes. West Wash’s stretch of Alameda Avenue serves everything from chicken wings to garden-to-table fine dining for those in the mood to peruse.

Quick commutes on the light rail
Residents have nearby access to major roads like Interstate 25, East Alameda Avenue, and South Broadway Street, which is peppered with bus stops. “I used to say I could get anywhere in the metro area within 10 minutes, then 15, now it’s about 25 minutes. Regardless, access to I-25 is convenient for commuters. We have the light rail too, but the traffic would have to get worse to convince me to solely rely on it,” Bridge says. Locals also enjoy proximity to two light rail stops - I-25 & Broadway Station and Alameda Station – which offer seamless commutes to downtown. Travel lovers can grab a flight at Denver International Airport, about 30 miles east. In case of emergencies, Denver Health and AdventHealth Porter are less than 3 miles away.
