Development of the area over the decades resulted in different subdivisions. "Forest Glen, a subdivision from the 1950s is in this area. Contemporaries and traditionals are most common from the 1990s through the 2020s. Single-family homes are typically about $620,000 to $1.3 million, with size, condition and age accounting for the wide range. Some of the newest construction is close to $2 million. The few condos in the area are $380,000 to $400,000.

According to Foster, it's well-known as a top poke place in the Seattle area. Other options include Herfy's Burgers and Ivar's Seafood Bar. There are drug stores, banks, and grocers, such as QFC and PCC Community Markets Edmonds Co-op. To the south is Fridale Village, an area known for its eclectic shopping plaza. "Firdale kind of butts up to Highway 99. It's loosely known as the Highway 99 area or neighborhood, but that's not an official name," Foster says. Firdale Village Shopping Plaza has independently owned businesses, including the Aquarium Co-op and feline and canine pet grooming options: Salon Meow and Muddy Pawz. Often, La Casa de Amigos food truck will be here serving Honduran cuisine. Downtown Edmonds has been named Washington's first certified Creative District.
