Many of these homes were built throughout the 1960s and 1970s, fetching between $530,000 and $700,000 today. Mid-century modern homes, designed in the 1970s, and more contemporary builds from the following decade cost between $720,000 and $800,000, with new traditional estates from the late 1980s and early 1990s sprinkled throughout. Most homes in this price range come on lots between a quarter and half of an acre in size with complex, thoughtfully designed landscaping. Decks, patios and recreational vehicle parking evidence residents’ affinities for the great outdoors.Active performing arts program at South Eugene High

They may then enroll in the Arts and Technology Academy before graduating from Churchill High School, both of which earn B-plus grades. On the other side of the neighborhood, children may attend the B-rated Edgewood Elementary School before moving forward to Spencer Butte Middle School, which earns an A-minus. Finally, they may attend A-rated South Eugene High School, ranked the No. 1 public high school in the county, according to Niche. The high school has several performing arts programs, including four different orchestras and both a band and a choir that specializes in jazz music.
Wayne Morse Family Farm and scaling Spencer Butte
Green space in Crest Drive rests on a balance of community parks and the rugged, elevated landscape in the south of the neighborhood. Wayne Morse Family Farm spans 27 acres in the center of Crest Drive, a popular gathering spot for community events and for dog owners to allow canines to play leash-free in the dog park. Lafferty Park is another neighborhood park, tucked away between homes, with a playground and views of distant mountains. In the south of the neighborhood, Ridgeline Trail cuts through towering evergreen trees and navigates around moss-covered stumps along Blanton Ridge. The nearly 2-mile trail goes between the neighborhood’s elevated subdivisions, limited to hikers who can peacefully watch for deer or admire the trail’s wildflowers. Even farther south, the rocky summit of the 1,058-foot Spencer Butte is a popular hiking destination. As one of the highest points around the city, hikers can enjoy views of the Cascade Mountains and Willamette Valley, after braving through trails with poison oak, altitude and a rattlesnake population.
Willamette Street and local buses lead to downtown
The namesake of the neighborhood—Crest Drive—has the Wayne Morse Family Farm, a popular green space and gathering spot. Willamette Street, the neighborhood’s eastern border, passes Market of Choice and a cluster of local restaurants and businesses before connecting to downtown Eugene. The Lane County Transit buses stop on the outskirts of the neighborhood, taking passengers to downtown Eugene as well.Thai curry, Jewish pastries and multicultural cuisines
Residents don’t have to stray too far from Crest Drive to experience cultural cuisines. On the other side of Willamette Street—the neighborhood’s eastern border—Tasty Thai Kitchen serves traditional noodles, stir-fry, hot pots and 12 different types of curry. One block north, Barry’s Espresso Bakery & Deli is the only Jewish restaurant in town. Fresh pastries, like hamantaschen cookies, rugelach, kugel and challah bread, line the bakery’s glass display, while sandwiches and paninis are prepared in the kitchen, often served with a side of matzo ball soup. The food cart pod in neighboring Friendly puts authentic Oaxacan, Italian, Mediterranean and Japanese street food all in one place. Residents can shop at the Market of Choice, which neighbors the Sunrise Asian Food Market, or at Albertsons, just outside of the neighborhood.
