Serene street and more than a few mansions

Home to an estimated 10,000 people, northern New Jersey’s Franklin Lakes is a residential area known for its quiet streets, expansive housing lots and oversized homes. No highways run through Franklin Lakes. Instead, residents travel along winding country roads. "Typically, what drives people to Franklin Lakes is more land. Those who want to have a luxury property," says Maryanne Elsaesser, a broker associate and Team Lead of The Home Navigators Team at Compass.

"The taxes are very reasonable when you compare them to other boroughs and counties in New Jersey, thanks to Franklin Lakes being the site of several Fortune 500 Company headquarters, which offsets property taxes," says Adam DeFino, the broker of record at DeFino Realtors.
