Brockmont is a high-end Glendale neighborhood, with historic architecture and LA views
In the foothills of the Verdugo Mountains, Brockmont’s setting offers dazzling vistas of canyons, multiple ridgelines and Los Angeles cityscapes, where city lights twinkle brighter than the stars. The high-end homes in Brockmont are known for their views and curb appeal, with a variety of historic architecture. In the 1910s, philanthropist John C. Brockman built his 140-acre Brockmont estate and four-story clock tower — a landmark on the Glendale Register. The neighborhood has remained the same, cultivating Brockman’s upscale lifestyle. “All the houses are really nice, and it is a bit further away from the actual city, so there’s more space,” says broker Raffi Soualian, who works with JohnHart Real Estate and has about a decade of experience in the area.
Brockmont is a serene hillside neighborhood in northwest Glendale, renowned for its historic architecture and panoramic views of the Los Angeles skyline.
Situated on spacious lots, Brockmont's Tudor mansions offer manicured gardens and panoramic views of the Verdugo Mountains, providing a serene and picturesque setting.

Mediterranean houses, ranch-style homes and Tudor Revivals in Brockmont
On the south end of the neighborhood, homes were built around Brockmont estate, creating the Brockmont Park Historic District, known for its stately architecture. Mediterranean mansions and midcentury modern ranch-style houses rest on spacious lawns up to an acre in size, often landscaped with boxwood hedges and succulents. The roads, lined with tall evergreen and palm trees, ascend as the neighborhood expands north. More of the neighborhood’s architecture includes Tudor Revivals and Colonial Revivals, many on tiered or hillside lots. With street names like Ridgeview, Rimcrest and Wonderview, it’s no surprise that many of the houses have panoramic views of Los Angeles to the south and the highest peaks of the Verdugo Mountains to the north. The location is also secluded, reflected by a 2 out of 10 CAP Index Crime Score, lower than the national average of 4.
Ranch-style homes are priced from $1.3 million to $1.5 million, while Tudor Revivals and Colonial Revivals range from $2.7 million to $3 million. Mediterranean mansions tend to be on the higher end, ranging from $3.8 million to $4 million. Inventory remains low, with residents who tend to stay for the long haul. “You don't get a lot of houses for sale there,” Soualian says.
Brockmont's Mediterranean homes not only offer architectural beauty but also a sense of exclusivity and tranquility, making them some of the most sought-after properties in Glendale.
Contemporary ranch homes in Brockmont seamlessly blend mid-century design with modern updates, featuring open-concept layouts, vaulted ceilings, and expansive windows that flood interiors with natural light.

Brand Park and Nibley Park
Only a couple of miles west of Brockmont, Brand Park is the city’s most popular recreation space, nestled in the foothills of the Verdugo Mountains. It features a public pool and a Japanese garden with a teahouse, where patrons can experience an authentic tea ceremony. This park is also home to the Brand Library & Art Center, a former estate with a design inspired by East Indian architecture. The library hosts an annual outdoor summer concert series, with artists performing genres from salsa to R&B. However, Brand Park is best known for its hiking trails, which ascend to Mount Thom for overlooks of the Los Angeles skyline and the Santa Monica Mountains. At Nibley Park, a couple miles east of Brockmont, there’s a playground, tennis courts and basketball courts.
Surrounded by a koi pond and serene landscaping, the teahouse provides a peaceful setting for contemplation and cultural events.
Nibley Park stands as a testament to Glendale's commitment to providing welcoming recreational spaces for all ages.
