Hiking trails, pony rides and fishing in the woods
“Winton Woods was in my backyard growing up,” says Brian Jackson, a Realtor at Keller Williams Seven Hills. “There are lots of hiking trails, but you can get off the beaten path too.” There are several campgrounds in the park, catch-and-release fishing on the lake and a small water park for kids. Parky’s Farm offers horse riding lessons, a petting zoo with sheep, rabbits and cows, and tractor rides around the grounds. During the winter season, residents can use the indoor pool and waterslides at the Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA, which also has an indoor gymnasium and weight-training facilities. The outdoor pool has designated laps lanes, and kids can take lessons or attend summer day camps too. Nearby, golf course options include Meadow Links, Winton Woods and the Mill Course.A top-rated music program in the Winton Woods City School District
Winton Lake students are incorporated into the Winton Woods City School District, which earns an overall C-plus grade from Niche. Kids can start off at Winton Primary School South, graded a B-plus, before moving on to Winton Woods Elementary in third grade, which has a C. They continue to attend Winton Woods Intermediate and Winton Woods Middle School, which have a C and C-minus from Niche, respectively, and finish at the C-plus-rated Winton Woods High. Winton Woods has been consistently ranked by the National Association of Music Merchants as one of the "Best Communities for Music Education,” and students have the opportunity to participate in robust band, orchestra, choir and drama programs. Thirty-two unique languages are represented within this school district.Mid-century homes sit side-by-side
According to Jackson, “There’s a good mix of housing styles in Winton Lake. You’ve got ranch-style homes, two-story homes. They started building in the 1950s and ‘60s.” More recent years have also seen the addition of townhouse communities and prices in the neighborhood typically fall between $100,000 and $300,000 and homes here sell after an average of three weeks. It’s common for driveways to boast basketball hoops in front of two-car garages, and streets are gently sloped and shaded by trees.Holiday events at Parky’s Farm
Residents can attend the annual Harvest Festival in October or opt to celebrate the holidays alongside petting-zoo reindeer at Parky’s Farm. Local craftsmen set up for the “Vendor Village” and trees are decorated with rows of string lights. The Winton Woods Campground also hosts annual events like “Creepy Campout” around Halloween, and the drive south toward Downtown Cincinnati features attractions like the American Sign Museum, The Cincinnati Museum Center and the city’s Art Museum in Eden Park.Metro buses into Cincinnati
Commuters can take Winton Road toward Queen City, where major employers include Children’s Health, Kroger and Procter & Gamble. Others opt to take Interstates 71 and 75, and, according to Jackson, “We have public transportation called Metro, and it’s pretty convenient through the area.” Buses stop regularly along Winton Road, offering passage all the way to the University of Cincinnati and the city’s downtown. A dozen commercial airlines operate out of the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport, and top-rated medical care is accessible at Cincinnati Children’s and Christ Hospital, both less than 15 miles away.Retail along Winton Road and the Greenhills Shopping Center
Most of the area’s shopping and dining options are concentrated along Winton Road, also south of the lake. Residents can pick up groceries at Kroger, head to the local Ace Hardware for household necessities or order lunches to go at one of the area’s chain eateries like Skyline Chili, Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers or Panera. There are also more options—everything from video game stores to Mediterranean Restaurants—to the north in Greenhills Shopping Center and the Citrus Tree on Corbett Road sources produce from local farms.
