Huntington Harbour
Walk the plank at Seabridge Park
Life on the water is all about outdoor access, and Huntington Harbour has two robust community parks and about 300 days of sunshine a year. Seabridge Park is situated on about 4 acres along the Bolsa Chica Channel. The playground has a pirate theme, with a ship to scale and a plank to walk. The park is on the water, so the sea breeze slices through, cooling off visitors on hot, sunny days. The sandy beach area is enclosed in a cove, making it an excellent place for kids to avoid the ocean waves and a calm location for kayakers and paddleboarders to launch. Trinidad Park is a pocket park with a robust playground that was replaced in spring 2024. Set on three acres, Conrad Park is an undeveloped grassy area with a playground that winds through the center of one of the islands. Most of the island’s dead-end streets conclude on either side of the green space and are accessible to the park via walking paths.A boater's paradise with plenty of dock slips
This neighborhood is a boater’s paradise, with waterfront homes and docks that allow homeowners direct ocean access. For landlocked residents, the Huntington Harbour Marina and the Huntington Harbour Yacht Club are two options with plenty of dock slips. The public marina features 171 slips up to 75 feet in length, while the yacht club is private, with many amenities for members only, including shopping and dining options.Old school custom homes that have been renovated or rebuilt
Most of the housing in Huntington Harbour is single-family, but there is a pocket of townhouses and condos on the neighborhood’s northwestern tip. “Homes here were built in the 1960s, so it’s an old-school community of custom homes that have been renovated or rebuilt,” Weston says. Many midcentury modern and classic California ranch-style homes fill the sleepy, palm-lined streets, but most homes are two stories, with features like steepled gables and Spanish-influenced design. Single-family homes are priced between $1.5 million for something landlocked and upward of $8 million for something expansive on the water, though most hit somewhere between $2 million and $4 million. “The most expensive homes are going to be in the Coral Cay development, which is a gated bayfront community off the PCH,” Weston says. “Properties there do not come up for sale often.” Condos and townhomes sell between $900,000 and $1.2 million, depending on size. One of the best school districts in the state
One of the best school districts in Orange County, Los Alamitos Unified is graded A-plus by Niche, which ranks it in the top 3% of districts in California. J.H. McGaugh Elementary School is a community school in neighboring Seal Beach with an A-plus grade. Marine View Middle is graded A-minus. Another A-plus school, Los Alamitos High School is known for its exceptional show choir, which has six different named performance groups, including two advanced groups. The program has 17 National Grand Championship titles and over 150 other state and local championships.Getting coffee and a bite at Huntington Harbour Mall
Huntington Harbour is almost entirely residential, but there are restaurants across the harbor along the Pacific Coast Highway and a nearby shopping center with retail and dining destinations. The Trader Joe’s at Huntington Harbour Mall is perfect for stocking up on groceries. The shopping center is also home to a few stores and other essential businesses like a veterinary clinic and a dry cleaner. AOSA Coffee is a friendly local cafe where neighbors often run into each other. In addition to their signature coffee drinks, patrons love the acai bowls and avocado toast. For an ultra-healthy option, Vegilicious is an organic and vegan venue serving modern Japanese cuisine. The eatery is laid-back and cozy, with ambient lighting and a lot of plants — both potted and painted.Huntington Beach keeps a full calendar of events
“Huntington Beach really lends itself to a lot of big events because it’s such a picturesque place with a ton of parking,” Weston says. “Cars ‘N Copters is this big event where people show off their exotic luxury cars and helicopters. This brings out tens of thousands of people.” Other annual events include the U.S. Open of Surfing, Oktoberfest, the Pacific Airshow, the California Wine Festival and Magic on Main Street, a tree lighting ceremony and holiday display.A few minutes to the freeway, but safe and secure
Interstate 405 is about 5 miles east of the Huntington Harbour. “It takes about 15 minutes to get to the 405, which isn’t too bad because the closer you get to the coast, the longer it takes to get to the freeways,” Weston says. The neighborhood is 7 miles north of Huntington Beach proper and about 30 miles south of Los Angeles. “This is such a great area. You’re an hour from LA, an hour from the mountains, and John Wayne Airport is 20 minutes up the road,” Weston says. Huntington Beach Hospital is 6 miles away via Heil Avenue. To the south of the neighborhood, bus routes run along Warner Avenue, which crosses Bolsa Bay and links up with the Pacific Coast Highway.Residents of Huntington Harbour appreciate its safe streets. The neighborhood’s CAP Index Score for violent crime is 1 out of 10, compared to 4 nationally. Property crime happens at a higher rate but is still slightly lower than the national numbers.
