While Ameriplex contains Indianapolis International Airport and the businesses that support it, there has been a demand for homes within the neighborhood. “This area of Indianapolis is enjoying renewed interest due to the housing prices being a bit more economical,” says Susan Forrest, Realtor with United Real Estate Indianapolis.

Several parks offer hiking trails, fishing and sports amenities
For recreation, residents have a few options. Sodalis Nature Park is a 210-acre park that was named after the endangered bat that lives within the park. If you want to be immersed in the natural landscape of Indianapolis, the park’s woods make for a great place to go hiking. Fishing is also available at the floating dock. Carson Park has a splash pad that resembles a pirate ship out on the sea. The park also features a playground, baseball fields and a basketball court. Southwestway Park is about ten minutes away from Ameriplex and is a 587-acre park that is known for its equestrian and mountain bike trails. The park’s nature trails allow you to be immersed in the wildlife. Sit by the White River and have a picnic. For those interested in sports, the park features six soccer fields, three baseball diamonds and the Winding River Golf Course.
Food options include barbecue, gyros and burgers
There are a few notable restaurants within and surrounding Ameriplex. Divine Bar B Cue is known for its homemade menu that includes the Pulled Pork Sandwich, the Pork Burger and the Porky Mac, which is pulled pork layered with mac and cheese and BBQ sauce. Yanni’s Golden Gyros namesake says it all. Order the Gyro Sandwich or Greek Salad with Gyro Meat. The other items on the menu are just as good. There's the breaded tenderloin, Chicago dogs, wings or burgers. Checkered Flag Tavern has been part of the community since 1947. It has been a place where racers/drivers and their crew would stop by for a visit. Patrons can see this legacy from the memorabilia on the wall. The Checkered Flag Philly is one of their more popular items, with its beef brisket, provolone and beer cheese, BBQ sauce and chipotle mayo. They can also have the Ultimate BBQ Burger, which is topped with slow-smoked pulled pork, Colby-Jack cheese, BBQ sauce and fried onion rings. The restaurant is most popular on Carb Day, which falls on the Friday before the Indy 500 begins in May.
