Biscayne/Turtle Creek

A mix of old and new Jacksonville
Brick ranches built during the second half of the 1900s often feature windows with classic shutters and one or two decorative palm trees on the front lawn. Early 21st-century dwellings have various-sized windows, asymmetrical frames, and covered front porches near the corner of homes. Houses built over the last five years are reminiscent of 20th-century constructions, displaying ranch-style forms while sporting vinyl horizontal siding or softly-toned stucco exteriors. Newer homes have more depth than width, hiding their true size while sitting on narrow, rectangular lots averaging a quarter acre. Others have board and batten, giving a modern farmhouse vibe to the streetscape. Biscayne-Turtle Creek also has a growing number of townhouses offering lower entry points for prospective homeowners. Homes in Biscayne-Turtle Creek fall between $200,000 and $400,000.Duval County Public Schools

Students move on to Highlands Middle School, which offers an aviation science and military magnet program, and then First Coast High School, rated a C-minus and C respectively.North Jacksonville brings out the fun
Ray Greene Park is located right next to the Highlands Regional Library and has served the community since the 1950s. Named after a long time county commissioner, the park is spread out over 30 acres and has ball fields, tennis courts and an off road BMX bicycle course. Garden City Elementary School Park is a quainter location with tennis courts, picnic tables and green space for passive enjoyment. The City of Jacksonville shares the park with the school district with the school also operating a 10-acre nature area south of the park. At the Eartha H. Napoleon Park there are walking trails and a plethora of green space on 16,000 acres. A new playground was installed in 2022. The land was originally granted to the city by the government of Spain in 1816. Only four miles south, Jacksonville Zoo and Garden welcomes more than one million visitors a year to their 100 acres of exhibits and gardens featuring more than 2,000 animals and 1,000 plant species along with dozens of conservation education programs.Neighborhood shopping and dining
Heading west on Lem Turner Road residents have access to big box stores like Walmart and Home Depot along with a number of restaurants including chains and independent spots. Harold’s Meat Market and Produce has been serving the neighborhood for more than 60 years. The family-owned butcher shop is like an old style country store in the middle of an urban environment with a classic façade and weekly specials. Further down the road is the Jacksonville Regional Shopping Center, which has a handful of retailers selling clothing and accessories, as well as additional dining spots. Satisfy cravings for barbecue at My Season Chicken and Ribs offering delectable cuts of marinated meat.Easy access to downtown Jacksonville
The I-295 beltway is a part of the Biscayne/Turtle Creek community, so locals can smoothly travel around the city--including downtown, which is only 10 miles south. To explore the city center without having to worry about complicated parking, the neighborhood also has the Armsdale Park and Ride location, serviced by the Jacksonville Transit Authority. You can drive your vehicle to the parking lot and travel on the First Coast Flyer, a rapid bus transit with limited stops heading straight to the downtown core.
