A north Jacksonville neighborhood along the Nassau River
Eagle Bend is a secluded community located near low-lying saltwater marshes in North Jacksonville. Small islands and agricultural lands in the neighborhood provide a natural backdrop for subdivisions, while Nassau River frames the area to the north. Most locals live here because they have access to nature and are away from the city. Because the area is separated from the rest of Jacksonville, residents must travel outside the community for amenities before returning home to a private lifestyle. Located near wetlands, Eagle Bend has a high risk of flooding during severe weather conditions, such as storm surges and hurricanes.
Boating is one of the most popular activities for the residents of Eagle Bend.
Eagle Bend residents often enjoy fishing from the beaches of Amelia Island State Park.

Custom homes and small subdivisons
Eagle Bend is named after the neighborhood's first gated development. "Eagle Bend Island is one of the oldest subdivisions in the region. It took a long time to develop because each lot was sold individually, and every home had its own builder," says Bonnie Siecker, a Jacksonville native and Realtor with The Legends of Real Estate. This means the private subdivision is filled with custom-built houses on lots sized one acre or more. These late 20th-century homes range from 2,000 to 3,000 square feet and enter the market at $500,000 or more. However, some larger waterfront properties can reach upwards of $800,000. There are also manufactured dwellings to the south and 21st-century residences inside Heron's Walk. Hidden Bluff subdivision features newer homes built within the past three years, with a market value starting around $375,000.
Two story homes are a common sight in both the Heron's Walk and Hidden Bluff communities.
Many of the homes in Eagle Bend have been built in the last two decades.

Leaving the neighborhood to attend schools
Young Eagle Bend residents must travel outside the community for school. Students attend Louis S. Sheffield Elementary or New Berlin Elementary, both of which have a B-plus from Niche. Oceanway School educates sixth to eighth-graders and has a C-plus. The school partners with the nonprofit Project Lead the Way to introduce computer science to students. First Coast High has a C, and dedicated students can earn an associate degree before graduation.

The New Berlin Elementary School is the newest school in the district.

Traveling along US-17 and I-95
Eagle Bend residents rely on their vehicles, as the area has limited public transportation options. The closest medical facility, UF Health North, is less than 10 miles away. Commuters access Interstate 95 within 5 miles via US-17, also known as Main Street. Traveling north leads to Nassau County and the Georgia border.
For your medical care needs, the UF Health north facility is just six miles away.

Visiting Northpoint Village Shopping Center and River City Marketplace
Many residents in the community travel south for groceries and dining. "The neighborhood is right next to Yellow Bluff Road, so residents can shop in the Publix in Northpoint Village Shopping Center. Yellow Bluff Road and Alta Drive are seeing more and more commercial development. You can also travel down Main Street or I-95 to get to River City Marketplace," explains Siecker. On weekends, bargain hunters can drive about five miles to Pecan Park Flea & Farmers Market. The outdoor market has over 500 vendors and storefronts selling produce, antiques and specialty items.
The Publix store at Northpoint Village is only a 10min drive from Eagel Bend.
Fresh fruits and vegetables can be found at the Pecan Park flea and Farmers Market.

A community embedded in nature
Surrounding the community are several protected lands and brackish waterways that set the stage for outdoor activities. To the community's west is Half Moon Island and Preserve, where residents can launch their boats out into the waters. There are also docks and a fishing platform frequented by local anglers. Eagle Bend is also a part of the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve, stretching across 46,000 acres, and managed through a combined effort between the national, state and local park services.
Events for residents
Eagle Bend Island's homeowners association organizes monthly events, such as food trucks on Fridays.
