"They do a farmers market there on the weekend, and there's Oktoberfest when they close down the little strip. They have events all the time. It's like a little downtown."

The Montrose Christmas Parade and other events
The annual Montrose Christmas Parade, which has been celebrated annually for over 45 years, brings together residents and visitors for a festive evening of floats, bands and holiday cheer. The Montrose Arts & Crafts Festival, which has been held every June for the last 40 years, showcases local artisans and craftspeople, drawing crowds for a weekend of shopping, food and entertainment.
Getting around the valley
Interstate 210, also known as the Foothill Freeway, runs directly south of the community, providing efficient routes to Pasadena, downtown LA and other key destinations. Public transportation options include several bus lines operated by the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority, offering connections to nearby cities and transit centers. While public transit is available, most residents find that personal vehicles are the most convenient way to navigate the area and beyond, given the suburban layout and the need for flexibility in travel. As for air travel, Burbank International Airport is 11 miles west of the neighborhood — usually about 25 minutes by car.
Low crime and possible wildfires
La Crescenta-Montrose is patrolled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and has relatively low crime rates compared to larger metropolitan areas. It has a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, well below the national average of 4.
Fire risk is high in parts of the community in the hills to the north, and it can have a large impact on home insurance rates. It's important to create a defensible space by removing dry brush from the property.
