Seaside living in westside Los Angeles
Del Rey, literally translated as “of the King,” is a premier community for trendy, coastal living. Bordering Marina Del Rey and hemmed in by Culver City, Del Rey is a westside Los Angeles neighborhood right by Venice Beach. “Del Rey is more of a local beach place; it’s refreshing and peaceful with ocean views and fresh air, and people live here for the waterfront lifestyle,” says Tony Zeng, a longtime Southern California resident who is a developer and broker at Metro Real Estate Group with over 20 years of experience. Originating as an early 1900s streetcar line beach destination, today Del Rey, commonly known by locals as part of the Marina Del Ray neighborhood, is known for seaside homes, trendy shops, lively recreation and top schools. “Del Rey is a diverse and eclectic area. There are people who sleep in houseboats by the harbor, and during the day they ride their motorcycles to work,” says Pam Xu, a broker at Sunpride Realty with over 10 years of experience. “Although the area is pretty laidback, a docking space here for a yacht can easily sell for $4 million.”
