A mingling of California culture
Set in the lush foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, Westwood is one of the most sought-after landing spots on the West Coast. This neighborhood, beloved by locals for its elegant homes and extensive recreational amenities, is centered around one of the largest university campuses in America. “Westwood is super walkable. UCLA’s campus really helps that,” says Realtor Mark Rogo of Compass, who has lived in the neighborhood for 35 years. “There are great parks, beautiful homes and some of the best restaurants in LA, so really in the world.” With thriving businesses, a cutting-edge university and quiet residential areas all packed in, Westwood embodies the City of Angels in miniature – a place where aspiration and achievement intermingle, nurtured by the ever-present California sunshine.

The delights of Westwood Village
Westwood Village is the shopping hub of the neighborhood. Fanning out from the central Westwood Boulevard, residents can descend from their roost in the Santa Monica foothills to this bustling business district to grab groceries at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods and to visit retailers like Target and Ulta Beauty. The Village, as it is referred to by locals, is also central to LA’s thriving dining scene. There is a long list of standout restaurants here, with KazuNori Sushi and French restaurant Violet L.A. among the favorites. For lighter fare, local bakery Diddy Riese routinely sees lines extend out the door for their cookies, brownies and ice cream.

Broxton Avenue is also home to no less than three movie theaters – The Regency Village, Regency Bruin and The Landmark Westwood – so locals never have to forego the next big blockbuster.

I go to UCLA. Westwood is very low-key. It has diverse eating options and the historic Fox Theater, which hosts many movie premieres.

I lived in westwood for 4 years while i was a student at UCLA. I can say that rent is very high, especially for a student, as is the overall cost of living. For apartments specifically you really are note getting what you pay for. There are benefits to living in an expensive area like access to retail, parks, transportation, and general safety. That is not to say the whole area of westwood is safe - the areas concentrated with students can get rowdy and not safe for children or even women.

Quiet, green, and clean neighborhood with a specific different atmosphere comparing to load, crowded Hollywood. There are four theaters, including famous FOX theater and Geffen Playhouse. Also, it is worth to note that Westwood is very close to Santa Monica.

Its not diverse nor inclusive enough. Some of the sidewalks are very cracked and dangerous. Trees fall a lot around the neighborhood which, makes many residents nervous throughout the day and night.
