There's plenty of shopping and dining. "It's a very friendly, family-oriented community," says Talyia Porterfield, a Realtor with Elite Realty. "We have lots of local parks, and it's close to the fun atmosphere downtown and museums to visit."

Parks and more parks, plus golfing
The Millbrook Mustangs Youth Football League practices at Legacy Park's lighted football field. The park also has a covered pavilion with picnic tables, a half-mile walking trail and the Legacy Park Center, which can be rented for special occasions. The Village Green Park serves as the city's gathering place with a covered stage for live shows, a quarter-mile lighted walking path and the gorgeous Leyburn Memorial Gazebo, a Millbrook landmark. Mill Creek winds through the park, with footbridges that connect the park to Kid's Kingdom, an expansive playground. Mill Creek also meanders through Memorial Center Park. The park's complex is home to a community center that hosts Millbrook's Senior Program, the Civic Center and four lighted fields for local girls' softball practices.
The four-acre Minnie Massey Park offers a passive recreation area with an open-air pavilion, picnic tables, grills and a fireplace — perfect for bonfires, barbecues and other gatherings. There's also a quarter-mile walking path for residents to get their steps in. Cooter's Pond Park lies along the banks of the Alabama River. Woodland trees draped in Spanish moss make up this scenic park. Residents can play on the multipurpose fields, hang out at the pavilions or take in breathtaking views of the Montgomery cityscape at the park's vistas. Along the river's edge lie access points to boating ramps and picnic spots.
Jackson Lake Island offers winding trails for hikers. What makes this place truly special, however, is the swarm of goats that live here and the abandoned Town of Spectre. "Jackson Lake is so cool! There are friendly goats everywhere, it's a great way to spend the day," Porterfield says. The Town of Spectre was once the set for the 2003 Tim Burton film, "Big Fish." An entire pretend town with a main square was built and subsequently abandoned when filming concluded. What resulted was an eerie town of dilapidated yet oddly charming buildings. Visitors to the island enjoy wandering through the town, picnicking under trees draped in Spanish moss or even camping out under the stars.
The world-famous Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Capitol Hill course is another city attraction. It routinely ranks as one of the best courses in the United States.
Millbrook Parks & Recreation has multiple baseball fields.
Surrounding schools have football practice at Legacy Park.

From blueberry picking to banana pudding
Ingram's Farmer's Market is a focal point for those looking for groceries beyond the Winn-Dixie. Local produce, home-baked treats and fresh hot meals are served with a smile at this family-owned, open-air market. Sweet tea, potato salad, barbecue chicken and a sinfully delicious banana pudding are some standouts to look out for. Ken and Anida Barber started Barber Berry Farm in 2008 after successful careers in the Air Force. Here, locals can pick pesticide-free blueberries, muscadine and scuppernongs at different times of the year. They also sell naturally-grown Asian persimmons when they're in season. For regular shopping, Prattville Town Center is the spot for retail therapy, dining and more. High Point Town Center is another shopping center in the area, home to an AMC Theater and Publix.
If you ask any Millbrook resident where to go to dinner, the first place they'll likely name is The Catfish House. Established in 1974, this local staple is known for its fresh, hand-breaded catfish and seafood amid kitschy antiques and local memorabilia. Marty Bean and his wife Jessie have been serving Southern comfort food to Millbrook at The Front Porch Grill for almost two decades, with new specials every day. Sweet Hart Coffee Co. is another beloved family-owned spot. Their drive-thru gourmet coffee drinks are creative and delicious, with several beverages named after regulars in the community. Gritts Café is the spot for warm, hearty breakfast staples, while Smokehouse Pit BBQ has won awards for its hand-pulled meats that are hickory-smoked in brick pits.
Stop by Ingram's Farmers Market for flowers and a hot meal like Mike's beef brisket.
