Prairie styles and multi-family condos

It’s an established community with little new construction aside from the occasional tear down. South Uptown features a variety of home styles ranging from Prairie styles and bungalows to multi-family condos. With a median sales price of $342,000, homes here range from the low $100,000s for a one-bedroom condo to upwards of $1 Million for a five-bedroom renovated Prairie Style. Residences closer to Bde Maka Ska Lake are subject to higher priced points here. North Community High School offers Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), which incorporates college courses taught by college faculty on local university campuses. Private options like Cristo Rey Jesuit High School are also common.Annual events at Bryant Square Park

South Uptown doesn’t have a lot of designated greenspaces like some neighborhoods in the city, but it borders historic Lakewood Cemetery, which was founded in 1871. “We have governors and some of the most prominent people in the city buried there and they have really unique monuments – it’s absolutely beautiful,” Engel says. There are benches and people treat it almost like a park, wandering 250 acres of meticulously maintained rolling landscape. “The Garden Mausoleum is considered one of the most architecturally significant buildings in the state,” Engel says. Completed in 2012, it’s considered a masterpiece of contemporary architecture that sits against a stunningly serene backdrop.
